I purchase a Eureka Backpacking tent about 10 years ago, and it has stood up to all kinds of weather and wear. So, I purchased this one...I am still pleased with Eureka. It's a quality tent for a good price.

Very solid design that fits my six foot frame easily with plenty of spare room. I am a big man and could fit another man or my wife in here, but then it would be tight after that. I sealed the seams to prevent water leakage. I use it for tent camping after spending a night observing. To heavy for backpacking.

Great tent. I keep it on the motorbike when traveling around. To heavy for back country backpacking. But the softtail does not care it is just over 5 pounds.

So I camped in this the Eureka Tetragon 9 (a larger version of this tent) a total of about 5-6 times over the past 4.5 years since I bought it (I bought it new in 2008). About 3 months ago I went to set it up for my family to camp in and the fly pole snapped on me (I was exerting normal pressure on to which it should have held up fine.) Then I got to looking at all of the rest of the fiberglass poles and noticed that most of them were bending at the joint where the metal and fiberglass meet, indicating that they also would be breaking in the near future.

I then called Eureka and spoke w/ their CS rep who stated that the poles are only rated to last about 5 years before they "die" and she stated that they were not covered under any kind of warranty. This is ridiculous. I only used the tent 5-6 times and it was stored in a cool dry place out of direct sunlight for the rest of the time! I went ahead and ordered new tent posts for around $55 but after these die it will be time for a new tent... and NOT from Eureka... they lost me as a customer for life. =(

I will be researching other tents that have a better warranty and good customer service as this is what you will have to rely upon years down the road (Maybe like REI) Hope this helps some of you!
