Resonable power supply. Nothing overly good or bad

I have had many power supplies in the past. Some were horrible and some were fine. What you want is a power supply that just sits there and supplies power without drawing any attention to it. This fits that bill. It is a direct replacement for the identical power supply that after a few years of 24/7 use started to make noise when the fan bearing gave way. This replacement just fit right in. The holes all lined up. The connectors worked. The fan was quiet. Life was good.
I rarely give 5 stars as the items has to surpass my expectations. I was surprised that it all just fit perfectly. Murphy is almost always working overtime for me. The only draw back I have for this unit is the rather mediocre fan they used. A sticker held a rubber plug in place to keep the oil in the bearing. Over time, the sticker gave way, the plug got loose, and the oil drained. And hence the noisy fan. I took this opportunity to replace the fan in the old unit with a better quality fan and now have a spare ready for the next failure.

500w 80 plus bronze rated power supply from EVGA. I've had this power supply for a little over a month and it was faulty or defected. After a month after it died I don't know if it blew up because it barely turns on with the self tester, the fan doesn't make a full rotation and I just can't get it to work I would not recommend this power supply even though I got it for about 30 to $40

This B1 series is bottom of the barrel from EVGA. The EVGA 750w BQ is on sale now for $69.99 and it's tremendously higher quality. Make sure you get the 750w or higher BQ series though or you're sacrificing some serious quality. Don't take my word for it people, look it up!

UPDATE:
I'm actually super bummed now about the 750w BQ purchase I made because right after I bought it prices across the board dropped on nearly all EVGA psu's The 750w BQ I bought is now the exact same price as the 750w GQ which is Gold Rated @ 90% efficiency and has 100% Japanese capacitors. Albeit, they both have the 5 year warranty.

Good PSU, Would Buy Again

I've owned this PSU for a while now. It was apart of my old system and transferred to my new one. My old system had a motherboard issue and was a headache to figure out. I bought this PSU to make sure my old system didn't have a power issue. In the end it was time to build a new system, so I bought new motherboard, cpu and ram. Issues are gone now.

The plug and play factor is that it worked flawlessly. The fan is barely noticeable compared to my case fans. You would have to look at the fan to see that it's spinning to know that it is working. At the time of purchase the price was good for the watt rating and the 80+ Bronze efficiency. I can overclock on my new system without worrying about power delivery.

The only thing I have to worry about is if I wanted to run Crossfire or SLI. I have to make sure the gpu cards I choose and total system power draw all fit within the 500w limit or I'll have to upgrade. Other then that I should be good

This doesn't RGB lights or anything, so if your hoping for that look at a different one. It's more like a stealth look, all blacked out. You might forget it's there if you have an all black case and remove the decals.

Only con is that it's not a 80+ titanium. Just kidding lol

Then I decided to quit my day job and pursue day trading full time, along with music. As soon as that happens my computer doesnt want to turn on. After testing it looks like its an issue with the PSU. I went through newegg to confirm that this PSU would handle my gear as far as wattage is concerned when i built it and it did, as Im not running anything overly powerful. But it just decided to stop working at exactly the wrong time. Super frustrating. It worked great when it did work. I feel I should have at least gotten a few years out of it.

I do know that longevity matters so I can only go by how the item worked for me for the past month. It is keeping up with my amazingly fast computer and I am very pleased. Naturally, if there are any issues down the road, I will update and rerate. I went with 4 stars because I don't know how it will hold up but right now, it's perfectly fine.

For context, I'm a 20 year old woman who has absolutely zero experience working with the actual hardware of a computer. This is the very first computer part I have bought and installed on my own. It was one of the easiest things I've done in my life. I bought it as a replacement for a 350w power supply that has been underpowering my computer (a GUA1000BST) for the past year and was beginning to die. I did reference a few Youtube tutorials for basic information, but I didn't even need them while I was actually installing the PSU itself. It was extremely straightforward.

Since installing this, I've had no computer issues. I was dealing with random reboots and shutdowns, and I was getting BSODs from, allegedly, my GPU almost twice a day for the past few months. This seems to have corrected the issue entirely. My computer also used to be extremely loud when running and this has basically silenced it. So far everything is running perfectly and I feel a lot more confident upgrading my system in the future! This is a good unit, installation is straightforward, and if you need the extra help there are plenty of resources out there.

This ATX EVGA PSU is everything that I need. Power supplies these days must be rated a minimum 80+ Bronze or don't bother getting one. As a non-modular PSU all the cables are pre attached, and you get 2 x 3 SATA, 20+4 Motherboard, 4 + 4 CPU, 3 x Molex, 1 x Floppy and 1 x 6 +2 PCIE connectors.

You've got everything you need for a good mid to high end gaming PC. The one issue you may have about these cables are they are not sleeved. So if you have a windowed case and are trying to co-ordinate the colouring, it could look ugly, you can always by sleeves for the cables. But my system does not have a window and therefore I don't care.

Everything comes well packaged, and wrapped up neatly, I had no concerns upon opening the box and worrying if anything was damaged or even scratched, excellent.

I like to test out PSUs before installing them to make sure they're working, so in order to do this you need a paperclip (or something similar), and you need to connect a green and black wire up together. But with this PSU, EVGA sent out a handy attachment that you simply clip on to the end of the 20 + 4 motherboard connector and fire it up, it's a fantastic addition.

At the moment I am running this in a system that has no dedicated graphics card, and therefore when idle, the fan on the PSU does not spin up. It only spins when I am drawing the maximum CPU load when rendering, so the power efficiency seems to work really well.

This PSU will be able to power a GTX 780 TI, 970s and 980s with ease and the R9 290(X) as well, but don't expect to be able to run SLI/Crossfire with this PSU.

Overall this is a great PSU for the mid to high end gamer, and for when you are just watching a film or browsing the internet this PSU is really efficient, it's a great power supply.

The reason why my old PSU failed is due to upgrading to my new GPU (ASUS R9 270) and I thought 500W wouldn't be enough to power up my PC after what happened, but when I came across this EVGA 500W PSU, I changed my mind especially after reading the review, so I went for it and I was lucky to receive it next day even after choosing free delivery which takes 3-5 days.

In general, this is a good quality product with a reasonable price which does the job!! it's so quite and has a 3 year warranty on it, and it's from a well known company which produces some really good quality stuff! what more could I ask for? lol

Got it as for a computer I built for my parents for Christmas and what can I say, it does the job.

Don't expect Premium cable colours/sleeves or anything ofcourse but if you just need a basic power supply that can handle a graphics card (with today's new technology it'll handle even high end ones) then this is the perfect PSU for the money.

Not to mention, EVGA have been making graphics cards for years so safe to say we can assume this is compatible with mid-high power consumption.
