I was running into some issues with streaming directly from my gaming PC (multiple 4k monitors caused it to stutter when playing games on the highest settings) So I switched to a dual PC setup and went back and forth on what capture card to upgrade to. I previously had an Elgato HD 60 Pro, but that wasn't capable of handling the 1440p monitor that I have with high refresh rate. My monitor is capable of running 165 Hz but this capture card can only capture up to 144 Hz. I'm definitely not complaining about it because it runs fantastic. The video quality coming out of it is top notch and has definitely improved My stream. I run a mirrored display setup from my 1440p monitor but I run two different refresh rates and have no problem. I output to the xr1 with 144 Hz and kept my gaming at 165 Hz with no impact and no shearing. I noticed very little delay between what's happening on the primary screen and what's happening on the stream. To give you an idea of performance on my specific hardware here's what I currently use.

EVGA's newest capture card is definitely an immense bargain to it's competition for good recording quality and a nice price to performance. 1440P HDR capture and 4K passthrough with even supported GSYNC and Freesync options! However for me, it did not fit my criteria because of one glaring flaw when used with OBS.
When using the Audio monitoring function to hear my gameplay, every minute or so, a very noticeable pop in audio would occur when playing, no matter what I did (Plug it into a different port, change audio format options, reboot system software, Update Card drivers) it would always pop. I tried my best to power through it, but it would only continue to get more and more noticeable. It wasn't showing on desktop audio readings. it grated on me too much so I have it under return soon. Otherwise its fantastic.
I hope whoever is having this same issue will get this fixed with a driver update.

This capture card, like most nowadays, claims to be UVC-compatible so I decided to test it out to see. (I'm running Ubuntu 22 with the 5.15 kernel). It worked fine (with some minor driver issues, see outputs below), although 4K capture was limited to 30 fps.

Additionally, I removed a star because the audio mixer button (the dial in the center of the capture card) does NOT work with any UVC software like OBS, for example.

Also, the software for controlling the RGB lights on the device (EVGA XR1 - XR1 RGB v1.0.0) doesn't work on Windows 10.

All-in-all, I would say that this is a fairly overpriced capture card and I wouldn't recommend purchasing it; there's other 4K/30fps capture cards for about half the price. If the audio mixer and RGB lighting were supported cross-platform then perhaps I would reconsider my opinion.

Might be the best capture card in this price range. Captures 1440p144fps with no problem (it can also capture 4k, but I don't have a 4k monitor so wasn't able to test that), was plug and play with obs. Like with some other capture cards that include headphone monitoring and a line in, obs doesn't automatically capture the audio, you have to add it as an additional source. But unlike other similar capture cards (looking at you, razer), the audio still sounds great even using this approach. The line in also solved a separate issue I was having with audio from a GoXLR Mini going to a laptop, as I was able to run the line out from the GoXLR to the line in on the capture card to capture the audio. The rgb is a nice touch and looks good, though I'm not sure if there's any way of setting it outside of the controls on the card itself.
Overall, the card looks and works great and is probably the best option in the $100 price range.

The moment this came in the mail, I knew that I had to plug it in and try it out. Once you plug it in, it's ready to go, but don't forget to go to EVGA's website to update the firmware for the card.

This device is truly OBS certified. No input or audio lag. However, as a pro streamer, I still had to make some sync offset adjustments.

The trick to get the best audio is to set the capture card's HDMI audio as a separate audio source, and then go to Advanced Audio Properties, and TURN OFF the volume on the Capture Card Video device audio, and you are all set.
