Top critical review
1.0 out of 5 starsCard was dead on arrival
Reviewed in the United States on June 29, 2014
I had two cards, in an SLI configuration, both were GeForce boards.
First one went bad, then the second, probably caused by heat damage.
I have no complaints about them, I received years of good service from them with no problems
I ordered this board as a replacement.
It allowed my computer to boot... with a *completely* black screen!
It wouldn't even display the CMOS/BIOS information!
This is NOT an OS/Driver issue... because neither the OS nor the drivers have been loaded or even
attempted to load at that point.
I tried (win7) safe mode... same thing.
I bought a new power supply... I tried changing PCIEx slots, I tried stripping every possible extra device...
I jumped through more hoops than a circus acrobat trying to get this.... thing... to work.
No such luck.
I then tried another model of card from the same manufacturer.
Same thing.
Same results.
Finally, I bought a another card... from a different manufacturer...
ASUS
Still a GeForce card, which is what I wanted, and it worked, straight out of the box,
no problems, no jumping through hoops, just 'plugged and played', exactly like it
should.
Amazon was wonderful. Very good about returning the 2 worthless EVGA cards.
As for the EVGA cards...
It was a hassle getting to their Tech Support, but once I did their support staffe
were:
1) Professional.
2) Courteous
3) Pointed fingers at everything else... Get a new motherboard! Check RAM! Power Supply!
Update BIOS!....
Well, the new power supply had no effect on the EVGA cards, the RAM checked out fine... In fact,
I am entering this review with the exact same configuration in which the EVGA cards failed, miserably.
The only thing different is the ASUS card (which works!) and the ASUS drivers (which work!).
*I* won't be buying any more EVGA video boards.
Buyer beware.
