It is still doing fine. Granted I mostly play late 1990s and 2000s PC games and a indie game every once in awhile but it can handle pretty much anything from the PS4/Xboxone era just fine at any resolution. Not 60 fps solid with all the graphical settings enable but playable except anything with ray tracing is just going to kill the performance. It can run games such as battlefield and warhammer total war ok as long as you drop a few settings to medium or low.
I never had any issues with temperatures. Fans never rattled or made loud sounds despite going 5 months without dust clearing.
There are definitely better GPUs available but at a discount or second hand buy the 2080 is a decent card.
EVGA in the GPU industry is usually regarded as a top tier brand and this card is no different, it provides stable great gaming experience with great temperatures. The overhead for overclocking seems to be decent but as of this writing I didn't fully explore that yet.
If you are considering it for RTX I greatly recommend it but under the following circumstances, for now I only tested it on Battlefield V (Max RTX, Max Graphics) and it provides a stable 60 FPS experience on 1080p. Just to be clear 1080p while using this card is a great overkill.
I opted for it as I like to record gameplay and upload also there is a good chance I will be upgrading my monitor within this year. so I wanted to make sure I don't get any issues while recording. This is how I personally was able to justify paying such a premium.
I'm sure this card can pull 1440p easily with RTX ON with frames somewhere around 80 FPs
with RTX Of however you can expect to be able to run 4K Games at 60 FPS stable without any issues
The following is just my humble opinion:
If you fall under any other category, other than what I mentioned above, I strongly suggest you look for more reviews or wait this one out (assuming you don't care about RTX) based on your personal situation. For example playing 4K with RTX on Max using this card isn't going to happen you will need to get the 2080 TI for that. If you have a monitor with anything higher than 120 FPS like the 144, you should also consider the 2080 TI.
From what I gathered the new RTX 2060 Lineup should be able to get a 60 FPS gameplay at 1080p with RTX settings at Medium so this could also be an option for you if you are a 1080p gamer.
The new RTX Lineup is rather complicated more than usual but due to that complication it also offers a great variety of options. That's why my final advice would be to take your time and read/watch reviews, benchmarks, and study your specific case carefully (Your monitor Resolution & Frames, RTX Settings you want, possibility of upgrading your monitor in the close future).
International Shoppers rejoice:
If you live in Kuwait I'm guessing the rest of the gulf as well, Amazon now ships directly to Kuwait in record times, Door to Door with full tracking and decent fees (make sure its Amazon Global Service). Thank you Amazon!
My objective for my new PC was total fan-less silence when I'm not gaming...and relative quiet even when I do.
The huge heatsink on this EVGA GPU (along with a 360mm Corsair AIO for my conservatively overclocked i7-9700k) are the key elements which allowed me to do this. The radiators are so massive that the entire systems stays very cool even without the fans spinning.
I installed it all inside a roomy Define R6 along with a few slow and quiet 140mm fans for those moments when the GPU/CPU combo are heavily active, and honestly even then...under heavy load...it's still much quieter then my previous machine was idle.
I should also note that I did NOT install the EVGA Precision X control software when I first installed the card, intending to later as I have with all my previous EVGA cards...but this one has run so flawlessly that I haven't even bothered. The stock curve on mine doesn't seem to spin up fans until ~60c, and I can see via HWMONITOR that my card never even approaches near those temps until I game. Even then though the fans are large enough, and the rpm's slow enough, that I have to put my ear up against the case to hear anything.
Performance wise, it's not quite the quantum leap that I was expecting from my previous GTX980...it feels twice as fast, and my benchmarks more then confirm so, but I expect that when I skip a generation. I have noticed and appreciated the additional memory (8GB vs 6GB in my old 980) allowing me to load more highly textured and detailed settings at 4K resolutions when I play TW:Warhammer. That game sometimes maxed my 980's memory out and would "swap" if you will to my machines primary memory, which sometimes resulted in buggy behavior.

I was a bit worried to spend so much money on a graphics card given the stories of failures in
the 20 series so I went with EVGA because they are supposed to have the best warranty service and
Amazon because of its return policy. I got the card on new year's eve and that was a pleasant
surprise because it wasn't estimated to arrive until Jan 7, 2019. I spent new years eve
installing it! I have played 1 - 2 hours of games a day since then and the card has been 100%
solid. It did get a bit hot at first but i played with the fan curves and moved some of the panels
around on my Thermal Take Core V1 (yes it fits) and now the heat is okay and only reaches 75 Celsius
in heavy gaming. The recommended power supply is 650 watt but i am using the card with my 550 watt
power supply with no issues. My system doesn't have a lot of power hungry components so i
am okay. Many people criticize the 20 series and ray tracing and DLSS but i am pretty amazed at
how realistic games are with these features. The reflections especially during explosions in BFV are
awesome. I received the free battlefield 5 code when the card shipped and installed it with no problems and I play it
regularly. The graphics are realistic and pretty awesome.
The precision software is used to overclock, monitor temps, set the leds and fan curves. Make sure you use the
correct version, you need the x1 version for 20 series cards. The card does not have a lot of LED lighting and it can be turned off if you want. The lighting is only at the top of the card.
Some people think the card itself is ugly, but i have to say that the card looks much better in real life
than in pictures. The card has a back plate. I also got the free trim kit from EVGA but i haven't installed it in the card yet (i don't want to go through the work of taking the card out of my case to install it).
Would i recommend the card and amazon? Yes. It depends on how much you will use it and what hardware
you have now. If you have a 1080 ti maybe you should wait but if you had a 1050 ti like me and like
great graphics in games then it is worth the money.
I had previously purchased a different RTX 2080 model and it had been defective, had to return it within 24 hours due to the 2080-common issue of secondary monitor flickering. I like this card much better. The other card had been a 3-fan 2.5-slot design with only a 2-slot bracket to hold onto the case, and it was very long, hanging way past the end of the PCIe slot, towards the front of my case. It was very loud, and temperatures were nearly 85C under full load at 100% fan speed. It was also increasing my stock 8600K's temperatures from about 60-65 to 70-72C under load.
This card on the other hand is excellent. I love the 2-fan 3-slot design. It seems to hold its weight much more securely with the 3-slot bracket; once you're going 2.5-slot you might as well just go for 3. And it's much shorter, still a long card but pretty manageable. It's also reasonably quiet, and temperatures are in the 78-80C range under full load at 100% fan speed. And it impacted CPU temps less, this time my 8600K only went from the lower 60-65 numbers to the higher ones, 67C max.
I mainly bought this card since I have a 4K monitor. Any older game can easily be maxed out at 4K and get over 60FPS. Forza Horizon 4 at 4K max, but no AA (not needed at 4K) is getting about 65-70FPS. Assassin's Creed Odyssey is running with a few lowered settings, like no volumetric clouds, but it's averaging around 55FPS; it does fluctuate from about 25-70FPS but it's a poorly optimized engine, even the 2080 Ti can't maintain 60. Also, EVGA's Precision X1 utility is pretty good.
For anyone who games in 4K, this is pretty much the bare minimum if you want full resolution, max settings, and good framerates in modern games. I came from a 1060 6GB which handled some titles maxed out like Halo Wars, and Forza Horizon 4 locked to 30FPS, but Odyssey was running at 1080P medium settings in order to hit 60FPS. So the 2080 has been a huge upgrade.
Overall I'm very happy with it. I hope it lasts well and proves to be reliable.
another issue you will definitely have is in regards to Ubisoft games. Ubisoft does not seem to want to support this generation of graphics card fully. Games like the division and rainbow six siege will have minor issues and crash whereas Ghost Recon Wildland at this moment DOES NOT WORK. you can play the game. but if you need to change weapon or loadout in the menu the game will crash 99% of the time. it seems to only happen on the RTX 2080/2080TI. but they do not seem to be willing to patch this issue. this is not an issue with the card itself but it's important to point out if you are planning to buy this card for these games.
other than that I'm very happy with this card. a bit pricy for what you get but I've got a great experience overall with my games. Would Recommend.
Pros:
- Built-in All-In-One water loop to move GPU heat to a radiator allows for much cooler die temperatures.
- Fan to keep the less active components cool
- Built-in lighting on the "EVGA HYBRID" lettering, however you need the EVGA Precision software to modify it. (Full color selection in advanced mode so you can match your non-standard RGB color)
- Slick AF design that fits great in a black setup. Gorgeous.
- Onboard switch to enable overclock.
- Compatible with L-shape power bracket for some sexy cable management.
Cons:
- Doesn't manually overclock much higher than factory settings unless you got lucky. (EVGA says max clock is 2000MHz with a lucky die)
- Very pricey.
- Kinda over-the-top
If you want your whole build to be clownishly high-end, this is your card. Like, we're talking TT Level 20 XT, 49 inch doublewide monitor, head-tracking planar driver headset, laser switch KB/M, the works; Very over-the-top.
This card is pretty over-the-top. Fits in my build nicely, and I can rest easy knowing my GPU is protected from heat by a 120mm radiator.
One of the issues I have is that the auto fan settings on idle spin up the fans every few secs which results in an annoying click sound. To fix I just manually set it so the fan runs low until temps heat up.
On order Amazon sent me wrong code since their system was set up incorrectly and it gave me a 1080 fortnite bundle code.. and the Amazon people didn't understand this so I never got the 2 bonus games during my promo (ordered a week before 3 game promo came out). So I never got any bonus games.. I guess I should've just returned and re-ordered with the 3 game promo but there was no guarantee that would work either. Since they were less than helpful.
Nvidia wasn't much help either other than that they confirmed amazon gave me the wrong code.. Amazon couldn't understand that a 1080 code doesn't work with a 2080 and it was a problem on their side..
