Cards sold after Nov 1 are supposed have this issue fixed. I purchased my card on 1/11/17 from amazon and upon registering the serial # I found my card contained the defect. Its absolutely unacceptable of amazon to continue selling defective versions of this product. There are reports of the card catching fire. If you plan on buying this card, do so from another website. Or buy a different manufacturer's version.
Having 8GB of VRAM is also a nice basis for a card that should be a solid performer for the next 2-3 years.
The card is attractive in design, and is compact enough to fit easily in most cases, it is no larger than any upper midrange card of the past few generations. I have tried several dozen titles on it from old classics to the latest releases, and had no problems with drivers or glitches in any of them. If you absolutely must have the best, you will have to decide if the 1080 is worth the extra expense and perhaps go for that. Keep in mind though that you may pay 40% or more in additional cost for 15-20% of additional performance. Either way, happy gaming is in store for you!
For strict 1080P gamers that don't have special 120hz or 144hz displays, you might want to consider waiting for the upcoming GTX1060 cards, or have a look at the AMD 480 series, both of which make excellent 1080P gaming possible on a stricter budget.
dunno how good the rgb is, or how well the cooler works, but it did come with the thermal fixes preapplied. it came out of the box, got tested to make sure it wasn't DOA, and then i stripped it down and put a waterblock on it. EVGA thankfully will honor warranties on watercooled and overclocked cards, as long as you retain all the original hardware and return it to an outwardly stock appearance. the tamper evident stickers are just used to let them know to do a more thorough inspection, as the device was used by someone a bit more demanding than the average consumer.
. Having shoved this card into a Bitfenix prodigy case, I don't have a lot of height space to work with, on account of the optical drive. If you were to forego the optical drive, if would fit just fine with some height to spare. I also have a 200mm front intake and I was able to fit the card without any clearance problems on the front. Considering the small size of my case, you can expect temperatures well below 73C with proper airflow in a bigger case. I have seen this when I had lower ambient temps in my room, when cranking the ac. I imagine a mid-tower case would see this thing being very quiet and keeping good temperatures, even at full utilization. A great buy. Although the current shortage has lead to a inflated price. Might be better to wait out the current market.
The LED lighting may be a gimmick but they look great in my Stealth build (black and blue) The colors are even and bright (Adjustable)
The thing I was most scared of was fan noise but alas it has barely added any noise to my rig even at full power.
And performance wise for my needs it is completely beasting though everything I throw at it, I don't think I will need to upgrade for awhile. Seems to get well over 60FPS on max settings at 1080P on everything I got. (MGSV, GTAV,The Witcher 3)
In short I love this card, I won't have to update for awhile and to top it off even though I live in Australia, I feel safe with what I have heard about EVGA's international warranty.
Hope this helps and GO EVGA! You can't beat their warranty and quality of video cards,
