In our computer building we like to stay with the Platinum level, occasionally going up to Titanium, or down to Gold for SFX units when necessary. This is an Mid-Upper level "G+" unit which puts your power supply above the norm but just below the Platinum level. At 850 watts good for general use. The only caveat I would mention is be careful of matching your GPU to the PSU, The new Nvidia 40xx cards will demanding more power for what we understand so 850 watts may not be enough. You may want to get a 1000 watt unit to be prepared for the future.
Does the job quietly
Quality is really nice and all wires are convenient
Just get one, for me I return it only cause the Unit I got was making noise
The unit was well packaged for both shipping and in the retail package. Plenty of included cables that were all wrapped nicely with an EVGA branded velcro strap. Perfect for using post build to tidy up wires and give the installation a nice touch.
All of the cables were plenty long for my application in a full tower ATX case that is larger than many. Even the 12V CPU 2x4 power cables reached from the bottom of the case to the upper left hand corner of my motherboard, albeit just barely. The inclusion of (2) of those cables and a total of (4) VGA power cables was a nice touch even though most people won't need that many. Some builders prefer the flat ribbon style power cables, but I'm fine with either flat or sleeved so no points off there. The sleeving is nice and well finished at both ends. My only gripes on the cabling side would be (1) that the wire is very very stiff and hard to work around in tighter spaces. A trade off between plenty of insulation and proper wire gage is a fair trade off. (2) Power supply manufacturers continue to use SATA jumper leads that are just too short on the SATA power daisy chain.
The EVGA power supply is significantly smaller than the Corsair HX1000 it is replacing which in my estimation is a good thing. The EVGA power supply has a nice rugged looking finish on it appearing like a ruggedized black coating.
Even though the fan doesn't have ECO mode per se, you can't hear the thing running inside a closed case. We will see about long term performance as I've only had it powered on for 24 hours. Hopefully it will last as long as my HX1000 which was still performing just great when I swapped. The 10 yr. warranty is comforting and EVGA traditionally has above average customer support.
I haven't measured the voltage points on my motherboard yet, but software reports the 12V, 5V and 3.3V rails running withing specification at both idle and workload.
I had to mark "Value for Money" as just average because PSU prices have jumped so much since the tariffs kicked in. Not really EVGA's fault, but originally I think this PSU retailed for around $119 before all of the politics. Still considering it's pricing placement relative to other Gold rated name brand budget minded power supplies it is still a relatively good value to performance proposition. All in all I'm happy with the purchase and hope to get many years of service out of the power supply.
Top reviews from other countries
This is more of a first impression, since I only just got the unit and installed it. I was searching for a quiet PSU first and foremost (after my old one suddenly became very noisy), and this one is perfect. Now my (quite quiet, as I thought) fans are the loudest part of the setup.
Modular structure is as convenient as description says (though, would not say it significantly lessened the number of cables inside, no miracles here). Cables are long and flexible enough to reach anywhere within a tower case.
So far - very satisfied with that PSU.
I would prefer to pay couple bucks more for quality! I own 4 and no issues so far.
They use generic cables unlike some other brands so it makes life easier.
