I want to give this PSU 5 stars but I can't. There are 3 items that keep it from that 5th star.

1. No thumb screws. While this is minor at this price point it is worth mentioning.
2. The screw holes are threaded for a smaller size than the "default" screw size for most cases. Once again minor but worth mentioning
3. The cables are not flexible. This is because they are individually sleeved. If you need to make any tight bends you will have a difficult time. I replaced the PSU I had in a Thermaltake Core 100 case. I had the drives mounted mid case so I could mount fans in the front to pull in cool air. The cables are so stiff I could not route them in this configuration. I had to remount the drives in the front bays in order to use the supplied cables.

If EVGA reads this, I appreciate the idea behind the sleeved cables. This is great for cables that do not need to make sharp bends. But if they do the cables will prohibit this.

1600 watts is definitely overkill in most cases. I wanted room for expansion, and definitely got it. This full modular PSU can easily run dual 10-core CPUs, six hard drives, and two GTX Titan-Z cards. The cables are all included, but the 24-pin motherboard cable will probably require an extension if you want to run it behind the motherboard as it's only about 18 inches long.

There are 6 SATA cables, each with four plugs. 2 additional SATA cables have molex connectors, and there are 9 VGA/GPU cables, each with both a 6-pin and 8-pin connector, and 2 EPS12V CPU cables. There are also some adapters included for floppy drives (if you need that), and fan adapters. The included power cable is a 12-gauge IEC C19/C20 cable, rated for 20 amps... which again, you'll probably never use.

The only problem with this is its size- you really need a full tower if you want to fit this in your case, but if you should probably be using a full tower already if you're looking at a 1600-watt power supply.

Seriously, you'll probably never push this to its limit unless you run a server with dozens of hard drives and several CPU's. But it's always nice to have that kind of room for expansion.

Beautiful! Absolutely beautiful! Looks awsome, comes with all black cables, and the cables are also braided untill in comes close to the ends. As for how it runs, I am still working on getting all my parts. Will I come close to using 1600w? No. But the fan will less likely turn on for a quiet build, and it will last longer because of it. I am also sure I will get a 98-99% ( no such thing as 100% ) power efficiency. To top it off, it comes with a 10 year warranty by EVGA who has the best customer service.

so far so good, decided to upgrade to higher efficiency rating. came from thermaltake toughpower 1000w. used it for many years. idle power was about 230w, now it dropped down to 170w with this power supply. not too bad.

i didn't have any problems with my old PS, and everything seems okay. my rig is watercooled 930 with 14 x 120mm fans (four 3x120mm + one 1x120mm radiator). ddc pump for water. yes my system still kicks butt. i will update if anything changes.

This 1000 watt power supply is a beast. It took me about 15 minutes to change out the old crappy ps with this very sexy ps. I have not ran in to any problems with it and don't think I will in the future.

Best power supply available! Modular cabling, so you only have the cables you need instead of needing to tie down a bunch of unused cable leads. 1600 watts from a standard 110/120 outlet. Titanium level of efficiency. Stable and steady power flow. I only use EVGA power supply units. They stand behind their products with great customer support and a 10 year warranty on these PSUs. This PSU can be used with the North American standard 110/120 volt or the 220/240 volt of other power grids. The modular cabling allows the user to select which internal power cables are needed, plug them into the PSU, store the extras and avoid unnecessary cable clutter inside the system. When you handle this power supply, you see and feel the quality of it. It is a very heavy duty design and it includes an attachment that allows you disconnect from the MB and power up the unit so you can get things like a liquid cooling system primed and flowing without endangering the components being cooled. It also includes the attachments necessary to support dual PSUs. Sometimes, getting a liquid cooling system primed can be a bit of chore and take some time to get it flowing correctly, If you are doing this while the components are powered up, you have the potential of causing damage due to overheating. But with the PSU powered up independently of the motherboard, you can get the pumps going, get the coolant flushed through the tubing and be sure that things are working correctly before going hot. The only thing to be aware of is the power usage with a 1600 watt PSU. If you draw the full 1600 watts while plugged into a 110 volt outlet, that is 14.5 amps by itself. Most standard outlets are only capable of handling 15 amps.Read more ›
