Upgraded EVGA 8800 GT Superclocked to this.....WOW

Like the Title says i just upgraded from an EVGA 8800 GT Superclocked edition card which lasted me about 2 years of incredibly hard work and finally burned out, not to worry because it has a lifetime warranty and EVGA has probably the best customer support on the planet, needless to say i RMA'ed the Card and it is being replaced. i figured this might be a good time to upgrade to a better card and stick with EVGA. i researched for about 2 weeks extensively on a new card. in the end it was between the GTS 450 and this card the GTX 460. i have chosen this card because it has a lifetime warranty mainly and about twice the cuda cores. the 8800 was a pretty good workhorse and i didnt really expect much of a difference but i was sadly mistaken afterwards, this card literally put the wow back in my games and video editing, i am truly happy with this card.

A couple of things to be aware about: REGISTER the card on EVGA.com and INCLUDE the Invoice(Easy upload of PDF) this way you have your lifetime warranty/Worry Free

Make sure your power supply can handle this card it REQUIRES a 450 Watt MINIMUM PSU with 24 AMPS on the 12v rail (Double rail amps can add up to 24 combined)

The first card I had received was in perfect condition, but it was artifacting out of the box. Had to RMA it to EVGA, which was simple and fast (their RMA department is located in brea, CA and i'm not too far from it). They give you a prepaid label, so all you have to do is print it out, put it on a box with some padding and take it to the post office. EVGA sent me a new card within a few days, tested and repackaged brand new. When you RMA you're only supposed to send the defective product because they don't give you anything back but the defective product, lucky me they sent me all new accessories (i have 2 of everything now, minus the GPU). I was coming from a GTS 250 512 mb, stock clock nothing special (pretty low end gaming). I now have the GTS 250 doing physix even though not many things use physx at the moment, but this GTX 460 runs flawlessly. I was nearly maxing everything out on my GTS 250, this card just makes everything much smoother (more than one client at max settings with no lag). i've done it with WoW and Aion. It rated high on the FFXIV benchmark, and also L4D2 plays flawlessly (this is all on 16:10 widescreen 1680 x 1050 resolution 24' monitor). All and all I gotta say, this card is DEFINITELY the new bang for your buck. BUY IT!

As always, EVGA products are the best in the business. This product, if you register within 90 days of purchase, carries a lifetime warranty. You can upload your invoice from Amazon directly to EVGA web site.

The product is great. I have two in SLI mode and they work extremely well. I replaced two 260 FTW with these and you can tell the performance increase. As they were dropped in price, they are very affordable even if you are purchasing two. Also, I have an 850 watt power supply and everything runs well. Also, I only have a dual core and no bottlenecks, unlike the GTX 480, where you must have at least a 4 core and a 1000 Watt or larger power supply. This is a good increace without having to pay a lot more to improve the performance of your computer for gaming. Obviously, if you decide to upgrade your motherboard, processor and power supply, you can easily use these cards as they will handle whatever you need at this time. I also like the HDMI output. My monitor can use this and the cord comes along with the card. I removed my bulky DMI cable. It does not make that much difference as they are both digital, but it is a nice feature.

I highly recommend these cards, especially from EVGA. They stand behind their products.

Hopt this helps anyone looking for a good graphic card set-up.

The EVGA GeForce GTX 460 series are very high quality, perfect for any PC gamer. One of these is enough to tackle almost any game out there; putting two together via SLI makes this card pretty much unbeatable in the gaming world. The graphic card ships with complementary software that works quite well. A solid built-in fan, two DVI ports and one mini-HDMI (with mini-HDMI to HDMI adaptor) make this card fully compatible with modern monitors and comes with an VGA adaptor for those who still use those VGA monitors. All in all, the quality of this card is consistent with the EVGA products I have encountered previously, that is, amazing.

On the other hand, I feel like I could have paid less for it. While these cards work well, they are on the lower tier of the high-end gaming cards. Hopefully, there will be a substantial price drop for future buyers when EVGA releases the next generation of video cards.

Sending back, too loud

Afraid I have to agree with those who say this card is loud. Not INCREDIBLY loud, but quite noticeable. I noticed it the second I powered my machine on after installing the card, it sounds like a miniature vacuum cleaner in my case. It is easily the loudest component in my system, and that's when the card is idle and the fan is at the lowest setting (around 35% fan speed). Fortunately in the few games I have played it didn't really get any louder than it is when idle. I cranked the fan up to 75% just to see what it would be like and then it was really unbelievably loud, louder than any PC fan I have ever heard, but I'm guessing that won't occur in actual usage. I gave it a week to see if I would just get used to it, but I haven't gotten used to it after a full week so I think I will be sending it back to try a card which doesn't have the external exhaust design.

Apart from the fan noise I had no problems with the card. Installed easily and performed well in both games and video encoding. I would have been thrilled with the card if not for the noise.
