I purchased this charger near the end of May to replace the original Asus netbook charger. It was shipped promptly and worked as soon as I plugged it into my computer. I did notice that the pin does not fit snugly and tends to 'spin' some. The length of the cord is not as you would expect with a laptop charger but then again it is a netbook and it was comparable to the original Asus charger.
.
Five months of use was all I got out of my $30 (then full price at that time). The charger ceased to work and the worst part is the internal cylindrical metal pins that are intended to fit into the 'box' on the charger are loose. They are either attaching themselves on contact and/or falling out.
.
If you are looking for a temporary fix then this is it. Quality and durability are definitely not this product's strongpoints and I recommend you look for it elsewhere, find a company that will give you at least a year's warranty on it or go back to Asus (if you are truly a glutton for punishment).
.
This is not worth your money.

WARNING! When the computer power is left on while the power adapter is plugged in, it overheats. This power adapter started to melt and probably would have eventually caught on fire.

This adapter worked well for approximately 4-5 months, as is the consensus with most other reviews of this product. However, after not using the adapter for a few weeks, I plugged it in while running my ASUS net book. After about 20 minutes, the power notification on the monitor was changing from AC to Battery... back and forth. To my surprise, the box on the cord was melting. I immediately unplugged it and let it cool down. I took the advice of other reviews and only charged the netbook when the power was off or it was hibernating. That seemed to resolve the issue. I also think if the adapter starts to melt or get too hot, it's also due to where it is... mine was under a blanket... of course it would melt. Be careful with this one.... so hot it can burn through the plastic.

The product title/heading for this AC adapter, ASIN B0038CCPJ6, clearly states that it is UL certified: "UL Certificate No.: E190414 ". And the Technical Details clearly state "Full Safety Approval : UL/cUL CE CB FCC TUV".

That isn't the AC adapter that was "Sold by ELECSPAN INC" and "Fulfilled by Amazon" and shipped to me. The AC adapter that was shipped to me isn't UL certified and does not have "Full Safety Approval": it only has a "CE" symbol on it and none of the other "UL/cUL", "CB", "FCC", and "TUV" symbols on it.

I was rather puzzled that there were numerous "1 star" reviews saying that their AC adapter "gets hot", "overheats", and in some cases melted. Not exactly what one would expect a UL certified AC adapter with "Full Safety Approval" to do.

Now I know why: what was improperly "Sold by ELECSPAN INC" and "Fulfilled by Amazon" and shipped to me was NOT the UL certified AC adapter with "Full Safety Approval" that I thought I was ordering!

One wonders if what was sold to me can legally be sold in the USA. I think I'll have a chat with a product liability lawyer about that.

I am posting this on behalf of my mom, as I am doing the return process for her. As another user stated back in 2012, what you receive is not what is pictured here at Amazon. The seller is outright lying to its potential buyers. Also as stated, this does not fit the models it says it does, my mother has an Asus Eeepc 1005HAB. The connection has damaged (she thinks) the power connector on the laptop, and it does not charge the laptop. It also works intermittently at best. If you order this, what you will get is a very cheaply made item with a label that has very little written on it. You will not get what is pictured here, you have not been able to get what is pictured here since 2012.

After searching Amazon for a UL listed, legitimate adapter for my mother's laptop, I have come to the conclusion there is nothing being sold her at Amazon that is UL listed or an official Asus product. There are even sellers using the name Asus, but they are not! I've waded through small pictures showing no details, upside down pictures, several different pictures for one item, or pictures that are not even of the item being sold. My mother has had to order something from Ebay. Hopefully we will have better luck there. I have reported this severe issue to Amazon and they are investigating it right now. They can't afford to have sellers deceiving or lying to potential buyers, must less selling things that explode or overheat to the point that they melt.

I am DreamBliss, and I have been a member of Amazon.com for over a decade.

Within a month of use, it blew up, overheated and deformed itself from the inside. Be careful with this product, I'm aware this could happen with any kind of generic charger and I might have been unlucky with this one, yet, beware.

Since I continue to use a very old Asus Notebook I have replaced my cord numerous times over the past 2 years. The cords are not expensive however, with the exception of this last one purchased they have all been cheaply made, poor fit as in the plug falls out of port and the box becomes scary hot. I am very, very pleased with this cord. The plug has a tiny yellow gasket that makes it click into the port with a solid fit, no more falling out. The box has not become hot so I feel much better about that as well. I would definitely buy this product again and would recommend to others.
