Joe Puma adds a new dimension to scales, using the whole neck for a single scale with 3 to 4 notes per string, covering 3 octaves. It keeps the fingering consistent and gives you the ability to move up and down the neck rapidly, breaking out of the usual positional approach to scales. Uses standard notation and grids - easy and fun to use - the scales are surprisingly easy to play. Unusual, interesting and very effective. I haven't seen this material elsewhere - the closest are the "3 notes per string" scales, but this is goes further.
