No more asking those with strong hands to open things and it works even when the power goes out!

I have a degenerative disorder that makes, at times, twisting even a door knob challenging. One of these jar openers came with our house and it's been a wonder of ease for a decade. Everything from tiny vanilla bottles to monster church picnic sized jars. My friends have these electric contraptions taking up space on their counters that are a pain to use when the power is on and useless when the power is out.

There are several similar products on Amazon. However, when it became apparent my grandmother in-law needed help this is the one we ordered. When it came it looked to be just as sturdy and well made as the one we have and is made here in the US! Delightful.

Simply the BEST jar opener out there. WAAAY better than those rubber disks or anything hand-held. You mount this to the bottom of a kitchen cabinet, wedge in a jar, give it an easy twist, and it works WITHOUT FAIL! Every time I move, I order another one of these. I have found that sometimes the sticky-adhesive back is all that you need to mount it permanently underneath a cabinet (painted cabinet), and other times you will need to use the provided screws (cabinets with particle board bottoms). There is no reason to strain your wrist or get abrasions on your palm or bang a lid against your good counters to open a jar. Get one of these now. They aren't that expensive, and it will be well worth the small effort of mounting the thing under your cabinet. All that frustration.... gone! gone! gone!

I usually don't have problems opening jars but some really are a challenge because of the jar shape or a smooth lid. A recent jar of relish proved impossible for me and anyone else who tried so I choose the EZ Off from the many different choices, primarily because I didn't want yet another kitchen gadget clogging the drawers.

The unit seems well-enough made, a fairly tough plastic and a very simple concept. A major advantage is that you can grip the jar with two hands while using. The first time I used it I actually only needed one hand to open a tough jar. I like the fact that it can open virtually any normal size jar.

Knowing from the pictures that it has a sharp serrated blade I expected it to guage the lids on some jars, and it did. Usually only on the tightest lids. Yes it can leave some sharp metal on some lids. Of the several dozen I opened only one had some roughness to it. I can't downrate the product for that, it's part of the design ... you either have to choose to accept that or choose a different design.

One thing that has been mentioned in other reviews is the "sticky tape" mounting. It is very clear that the manufacturer did not intend the tape to be the sole mounting method. Written very clearly on a label on the tape it says "Holds unit in place for installing screws". The screws are not optional, they are included and necessary.

This product does exactly what it is advertised to do, and earms 5 stars.

This blends well with my white cabinets and makes removing tight lids effortless. Installation was extremely easy. I installed it backward (open end facing the wall) so that the teeth do not show. It is much less imposing-looking that way and there is no difference to me on how easy it is to use.

Needed a good jar opener for my elderly mother. Looked at the plier type but they were too large for her hands to grip due to the osteoarthritis. Picked up this item due to the good reviews. Installed with just 3 screws to the bottom of the cabinet. It was thoughtfully supplied with some sticky tape to aid in initial positioning. In all, took less than a minute to install.

The sharp teeth on the unit grip plastic and metal lids with ease. It took a little practice keeping the top of the lid flush with the cabinet and pushing back into the unit to grip the lid but now we're taking off lids with ease! It opened a small juice bottle as well as a 3.5" pickle jar. Recommend this item!

I had one of those electric jar openers and it worked, but it took up a lot of counter space and didn't work on smaller lids like water bottle or soy sauce lids. I was looking for an alternative when I found this, the ratings and the reviews sounded exactly like what I wanted.

Jim, my husband, installed this easily under one of the kitchen cabinets. It works great. I have used it for jars both that needed opening, and ones that were just to hard for me to open again- like honey jars or jelly jars that get a little sticky and are still hard to open.

I was surprised at how well this worked, it takes almost no wrist or hand strength to use. The second best feature is the fact it's up and out of the way. Counter space is a premium at our house and the ability to stick this up under a cabinet and have it there whenever I want to use it, without it either sitting on the counter or my having to drag it out and put it away when done is a huge plus.

I filmed without help so you can see I had to put the camera down to hold the larger jars but I hope the video shows you how well it works:)
