Great value when bought with Prime delivery

The price of these barrels fluctuates, but if you're patient, you can usually score them for around $70 with fast & free Prime delivery - and that's pretty hard to beat. It's a nice, clean, thick-walled barrel with no sketchy odor and no other surprises of that sort. Comes with an all-plastic, heavy-duty lid and lever ring (so rust should not be an issue). Note that the photo is actually incorrect - I think it shows a metal ring.

The seal around the lid is probably not 100% airtight unless you apply some silicone grease. Probably not a big deal unless you have a habit of storing your barrels upside down.

This is good barrel and I would recommend it. The lid is plastic, but a thinker piece of plastic at least. The lid was not completely flat in the middle - it is a bit warped, but it still fits fine. So it collects a little rain water on top, but here in NC it will burn off on a hot day. I like that it is ribbed for extra rigidity. BTW - I use this for rain collection and use the Earthminded DIY Rain Barrel Diverter Kit (shwon in the pic).

WOW! I purchased this for a dust collection system I'm putting together. This will do nicely. The material is thick and sturdy, the lid seals tightly and the overall construction is well made. I'll be running a 2HP DC with this and I'm sure it will stand up to the suction and not collapse. I'll update once everything is put together.

Using as a rain barrel -- -it has since been quite cold, and frozen water .... and NO CRACKS! It works! I do not use the lid, but have a lid from one of my previous "rain barrel" designed barrels that cracked.
