I purchased this because The Wirecutter recommended it as the best travel toiletry organizer. I agree that it is a pretty good one, if you are checking a bag.I already have one small toiletry organizer that I use when I fly and take short trips that just fits a couple 3 oz bottles, tooth brush and paste, and a razor, but I am now starting to take longer (ten days to two weeks) trips pretty frequently (about 5 months away from home per year) for work, and needed a bigger kit. Some other reviewers commented on how large this kit is, and it is very large if you are packing just a cary on, but this goes in a checked bag for me, and holds enough to last me two weeks. Nothing is worse than having to buy toiletries when traveling, and this prevents me from needing to do that.I like that this kit has nice, large pockets. I bought some 8oz plastic bottles for my soap and shampoo that fit in the pockets perfectly (see photos). The third large pouch holds my face wash, and a 3oz tube of shaving cream together nicely.In the top part of the kit there is a little mirror. Honestly I've never used it because it is very small, but if you were truly desperate I suppose it might work. It would probably be best to take it out to use it.Behind the mirror there is a large mesh pouch. In here I keep:-A scrubber-A Wash Cloth-2 Razor cartridges in a little plastic safety container-A small shammy towel for drying off in a pinch-Some ChapstickThe main pocket is nice, it has a good zipper, and some mesh for breathability so that you can put damp things in there and not have it get too nasty. I still prefer to dry my stuff before packing it away but that isn't always an option.The final pocket is the clear detachable one on the bottom. I have no idea why it is detachable, my best guess would be that it would be to put in your carry on while the rest of the kit goes in your checked bag. I personally would not do this because the clear plastic is not very robust. Mine got some holes poked in it from the small plastic tip that sticks out from my gillette fusion razor handle when there was no blade cartridge attached. This small piece of plastic retracts in to the handle with no force, so the plastic has to be pretty weak to be damaged by that.In this clear pouch I keep two different deodorants (one for working out and the other for daily use), plus a travel toothbrush, and a small tube of tooth paste. I don't keep my razor handle in this part any more, now it goes in a main pocket by one of the white soap bottles.I like the large hook that makes it easy to hook on to stuff, and I like that the hook loops in to the case for easy storage so that it does not get caught on stuff easily.Overall: this is a good kit if you are traveling for long periods of time, and are either checking a bag or not flying. It is not ideal if you are just traveling with a cary on.A note: Even though I check a bag when using this, the bag that I check is a rolling Pelican case (the 1510-000-110), which is in theory small enough to be used as a carry on. While this toiletry holder is large, it still physically small enough to fit in a travel on sized case with all my clothes.
