Initial impression: wow. The design is incredible slender with the diameter not much greater than that of the enclosed 18650 battery. What a great EDC option for normal pants pockets w/o worry of an abnormal bulge. The 'hotspot' is pretty large in near-to-mid throw situations so you get full illumination of subject matter. The cut off between hotspot and the external cone of light is gradual as well -- a positive for me. The LED end of the light does get warm quickly at the highest illumination setting.
Since September 2019, I’ve purchased another 5. Out of the 5, 4 arrived defective. They don’t dim. I've returned 2 so far, One is past the 30 day return period Amazon gives me. I will be returning this latest purchase as well.
Not sure what is happening with Eagtac's quality control as of late, but I’d say this is the end of my purchasing their companies products. Too bad, Eagtac had a really good run.
XM-L2 U2 is the best LED for this class of flashlight as of 8/2013... so efficiency is great.
I can't imagine how you could be disappointed with this..
I'd recommend getting a high quality 18650 battery, and a good charger...
panasonic makes a 3400mah cell that's phenomenal... many brands sell it bundled with a protection circuit.
only other comment I'd make is most people would be better off with a flashlight with built in micro-usb charging..
this flashlight doesn't have it.... and as a result is smaller and lighter... but charging is a bit more hassle.
