I wanted a flashlight that could shoot a beam far ahead of me but I didn't want to spend a ton of money for it. Other than that, I had almost no other requirements. First this unit is lightweight even with batteries. It fits comfortably in my hand or coat pocket. My maglight weighs a ton and its way too large to put in my pocket! Second this unit feels rugged. It is all metal and has all sorts of turnings and cutouts on it making it look rugged as well. Last and most importantly, I am totally pleased with the way it shoots a beam of light. It reminds me of the flashlights that they used on the TV series, X-FILES. On a dark road, you can see a beam of intense cold white light shoot for hundreds of feet ! To those who think they can buy a flashlight from Kmarts for $5, this isn't in the same league. Yeah it is more than $5, but it is worth every cent. I am happy with the unit.
For a fair evaluation, people may ask about negatives or ways to improve a product. Honestly, I really can't come up with anything in the design or the performance of the unit. If I had to say something, maybe include the batteries needed to operate the flashlight rather than having me go to Home Depot to buy them. I really didn't care but that's an idea for improvement.
Not shown in the pictures at the time of this writing, there is a 4mm (.15 inch) loop for a lanyard or other connector that rotates around the tail end of the light. This loop is on a ring that turns around the flashlight. (i will submit a couple of pictures to show it). I would prefer a sturdy clip, and would have given it 5 stars if it had one.
