The Ear Force PBT is a Bluetooth communicator device for the PlayStation 3. It allows you to wirelessly connect to the PS3 to chat to teammates or friends over the PlayStation Network. The PBT is different from other Bluetooth communicators because in addition to pairing with your PS3, it can simultaneously pair with your mobile phone. This dual-pairing functionality allows for the utmost convenience when gaming because of the ability to instantly switch from chatting with teammates to taking a phone call with just a single press of a button. The 2.5mm mic jack lets you use the wireless Ear Force X32 or X42 headsets on the PlayStation 3. All of the innovative features that make the X32 and X42 excellent XBOX 360 headsets will now work on the PS3 as well.

Good product. If you are paying $20 for it, go for it. You won't be disappointed. I would hesitate if I had to pay more than $40 for it. The blue tooth is easy to use, and the battery life is very long. After a hour of it in your ear, it will be begin to hurt (for me and a few of my friends this was the case). The head jack adapter is a 2.5mm so this will not fit the standard headphone which is a 3.5mm. It works well other than a slight crackling noise that is made, but really does not cause any issues for me. The crackling noise is there sometimes, but goes away too.

Pros: Small, great Bluetooth, works with your phone, long charging cable, easy setup, 2.5mm headphone jack
Cons: begins to hurt after a while (You can just switch ears...and you should be ok), a slight crackel every now and then, Muting is possible but not quite as easy as it should be (must hit the button twice to mute and twice to unmute).

Overall I would recommend this product.

Decent sound quality but not a great fit

You get what you pay for I guess, and the sound quality is what you would expect at this price point (or maybe even a little better) works good for me when I'm casually playing games with friends, but you don't get the benefits of over the ear headphones in terms of enhanced or isolated sound quality.

Having said that, the fit is terrible, the over the ear clip is really uncomfortable to me (I don't have big ears, but where they connect to my head is wider than most, if you get what I mean) so then I have to rely on the speaker part of the bluetooth, which is no earbud, and is way to big to fit in my ear canal. So it just kind of hangs there half in half out of my ear. Somehow it actually stays in though. Must be due to the unusual architecture of my ear cartilage I guess...
Anyways I give em 3 stars.

UPDATE: I see that this is now listed at almost $50....please do yourself a favor and get something either a) cheaper, and same quality or b) a bit more and something way better. I still use mine and its fine, but still really uncomfortable for me

I bought this headset after my old one's mic quit working. I like the fact that you can use it only as a mic and plug your own headphones in it or just through the tv speakers. One thing I don't like about this product is that the headphone part is cutting in and out (which happened with my old one I bought on Amazon)but all I have to do is turn it off and back on. The sound is a little low but it's not as bad as everyone is saying. I can still hear clearly (when it's not cutting in and out) and people can still hear me just as well. Picks up a lot of background noise. It is easier to sync than my other headsets were. And Amazon, this is NOT a game, it is an accessory!

The headset I will give it a 4 stars out of 5. The reason is that the speaker is very low while connected to the PS3, besides that I had use it with my Iphone 4 and still the speaker is not very loud. But for the price and overall is a good first headset specially if you want a good one for cheap. It is very easy to sync with the PS3 and Iphone 4. Switches between the two as described. So you can be playing and it will switch to incoming calls with only pressing the button. Battery last about 5-6 hours with a full charge. Neat headset for the price.

I have a few days with this item and there is no problem yet! I've been playing for a good amount of hours testing this out and so far, everything looks good! There are a few complaints about the low quality in the voice volume but I think if you move around your headset volume on your ps3, it should put it up a little bit more. I have my heatset at high and also on my ps3, I have it on level 5 . It sounds perfect to me! Not as loud where you get headaches, but not as low as for you to not hear what the other is saying!

Battery life is what its stated! Once received, leave it charging for about 4 hours. Battery does last a good 5 hours or more non-stop. Standby of course, last longer. I say for a bout 12 hours or more. 5 stars

I bought this to replace my old Playstaion 3 bluetooth. When it came i notices its great and sturdy feel it had and a it was easy to set up. When i started using it, I found nothing wrong still it randomly distorted to audio almost like it was losing signal. After a while i decided to stick to my old bluetooth.

Pros:
It can connect to your phone and system at the same time.
You can use the bluetooth as an adapter to connect a 360 turtle beach headset to your ps3 or connect any wired headset that uses a small input.
Sturdy build.

Cons:
Short range.
Random audio problem.

It doesn't have anything fancy on it to make it a head of other brands, but it's good for the price. Downside, the ear piece is clip one and flimsy. My cat likes to pick up anything she can in her mouth and run off with it. She found my Bluetooth and took off with it, when I found her with it the earpiece had popped off and gone I don't know where.

But then I decided to upgrade to the Sony 7.1 headset & I realized how much better chat sounded over the 7.1 headphones versus what I had been accustomed to & knew no different using this device, completely night & day. If you're the occassional online chatter & just looking for a basic earpiece for some basic comms, this is a good alternative @ less than $25. But if you're serious about playing FPS or team based games, do yourself a favor & get the Sony 7.1's, they're well worth the dollars spent & this is coming from someone who has a pretty solid quality 7.1 surround sound setup @ home.
