This Cable's remote control only work on CELLPHONE DEVICE ,and cable's valume control has a IC chip in it , if the valume control doesn't work in the device, you just need to discharge the IC chip , these are 4 steps could Discharge the IC chip: 1.Insert the cable plug into the cellphone or device. 2.Turn on Music Program , and Don't play any music 3.Hold the Plug , turn left 7 round or more , then turn right 7 round or more （ this way is discharge the IC chip) 4.Pull Out the Plug , and Inesrt it into cellphone or device again. and now it should work . Everytime use the cable in different device , it must be discharge again.

The stock one's fell apart after a year and not soon after I replaced them with a cable that would control my phone and contained a microphone. The balance on the last pair from another manufacturer (Zee's Music) was never quite right. The side where the microphone sat was about 1/2 to 1 decibel quieter than the other. It was a slight annoyance, but after a year of ownership the microphone on those stopped working. I needed a new pair.
After weeks of searching, including reading the forums on head-fi.org I decided on Earmax. You can certainly spend less for a replacement cable for your headphones, go through a continual cycle of replacement, or you can also spend much, much, more. I would say the Earmax are comparable to cables in the $50-60 range that lack a microphone, making this a great deal for $23 after shipping.
Upon opening the package the Shure SE 420 drivers snapped right into this new cable and hold tight. The cable is a great length and the extra 0.2 meters is much appreciated. The memory cable around the ear is well constructed, but it does make it difficult to put the headphones away if you want to keep the memory wire perfectly configured. As far as sound quality goes it sounds slightly fuller than the last cable I had on my headphones, honestly though, it's hard to tell too much difference when doing an A/B test.
One thing I would change is the 3.5mm connector, this product could improve itself further if it offered an L-shaped connector, compared to the straight connector on this cable. An L-shaped adapter puts much less strain on your music device when it is in your pocket.
The controls to pause and play work on both my macintosh computer and android phone. While only the volume control rocker works on my android, this was something I expected and the interoperability is a true plus.
The microphone is optimally placed to reach your mouth after the cables are wrapped around your ears. This microphone is also the same module that came on my last pair of headphones and eventually stopped working. It is crisp and clear, but I shall keep this review updated should I face any issues with the microphone or any other components.
Overall this is a great product
2018 update: these cables are still running strong
The Shure mic and controller replacement cable works great but breaks and delames around the ears and cracks at the plug with in a month or two. The longest I've ever had one last is 4 mouths & for $39-49 per cable this is just a big joke. The best part of Shure is that if you send the cable back they will replace it for free and send you a new one. Shure is very aware of this problem & has great customer service. I find it shocking that they have done nothing to address this issues or to update the cable in the last 3 years. I've have to send back at least 10-12 cables over the years. Even with great customer service it a bummer because you will be without your cable for a few weeks, at least, not to mention having to go to the Post Office once a month to send one back, I had to spend one back just yesterday.
I have purchased cords that were over $100 and only a couple of these were better, but not by much and I purchased cables for a fraction of the cost.
This is where this cable comes into play, first let me tell you, I was extremely skeptical when ordering it because there was not a single review but for $20 I figured what the heck. When it show up and I opened it, I was shocked!!!! Great quality, sounds incredible, works perfect, headphones snap on just like they should and do with the factory Shure cables. There's no slop, they look great & are the perfect length. The cable has a cool coating over it and the mic/controller is perfectly alined with your mouth so t's easy for people to hear you, everything about this cable is so well worth the $20 asking price. I decided to order another cable for an extra to have on hand just incase. So when I went to order my extra today I decided to sit down and write a review, which I almost never do, but this cable deserves the time it takes to do so. Again, I will say that shipping does take a while to arrive (which is noted in the add) because it comes from China, regardless it's completely worth the wait!!!! Do yourself a favor if you have any of the Shure SE Headphones with the removable ear pods.
Final word on this is that I have never had to return them, so I have no Idea what their return/exchange policy is like, but again for $20 it's hard to go wrong... Good Luck and Great Listening
