1,000 Ways to Rock. Comfortably.
We straight ran out of ways to make old technology comfortable. So, we got innovative. Introducing Cush Fins, the revolutionary earbud system that guarantees a perfect fit and ear-lapping comfort. Coupled with seven gel tips, Cush Fins give you 1,000-plus formulas to fine-tune your listening setup. Whoa, this is big.
Sound Not Forgotten.
Just because they’re comfortable doesn’t mean they won’t rattle your globe. The EPIC uses C3 technology to deliver clean, crisp sound no matter your flavor of music. Drench your ears in vibrant highs and song-defining mids — all delivered through JLab’s high-performance 13- millimeters drivers, the largest driver we've ever packed into an earbud!
Built to Last.
Did we get carried away? Perhaps. But how epic would these earbuds be if they weren’t built to last? Featuring a universal mic and simple track control, the flat, tangle-free cable offers additional strength when things get messy. Seriously, we tested these during a death match with a cobra, puma and liger. Ok, no, we didn’t. But they’re pretty dang strong.

I'm a semi-audiophile of the budget variety, and am comparing to ~25 of the best budget earphones, which I own. For reference, my hearing goes to 15.9Khz, which is not bad for my age, and I can hear/feel down to 10 Hz.
I have the Jlab J4, J5m, and J6m. To compare, the J4 has midbass bloat, way too much for an audiophile to tolerate, but it was extremely well built. The J5 was a drastic improvement. It a great, well built, and comfortable earphone with a nice bump in the bass without being bloated, excessive, or midbass focused. The J6 required 100 hours of burn in , but was then excellent and no longer sibilant, and pretty balanced and flat sound signature, perhaps my favorite before the Epic.
In comparison, the Epic is a perfect bass connoisseur's earphone. Compared to the J5 it has deeper and more powerful subbass lows and makes the J5 seem like it has a midbass hump. The subbass is what the bass connoisseur desires, but excessive midbass is what lower quality and famous name earphones usually have. The Epic has both subbass impact, quantity, and quality. That is an unusual combination. In comparison, I have the highly rated Philips Fidelio S1 which costs $100, it has a somewhat similar angled shape. It has excellent subbass impact, but lacks the subbass quantity of the Epic. So in proportion, the S1 seems to have a little too much treble energy, while the Epic is just right.
The Epic also wins on comfort.Read more ›
After a month or so, my ears got more used to these, and they are no longer uncomfortable.
I had to RMA another pair, for the same issue below. Definitely some QC issues.
I cannot speak for the longevity of these earphones. A few days ago, my right earbud just stopped working. Had to RMA them (which means I have to pay for postage the way there). Hopefully the new pair will last longer.
After about a month with these, I finally found (or 'broke in'?) a semi-comfortable fit. It's no longer painful to wear these, but prolonged periods of time still leave my ears sore.
I reached out to JLab, and they emailed back and said that burn in is not required, but recommended. So, I did go through the burn in process, and now the sound is exactly what I expect from Jlab: Perfect.
Let me start by saying that I have been a faithful JLab customer since the beginning. The reason why is because I am an audiophile on a budget. I think these are the first earbuds I have had mixed feelings about from Jlab. Here's why:
The sound is a pleasure to listen to...for most genres. The highs ruin the earbuds on songs with cymbals, hi-hats, or hi-pitch vocals. I have to turn the volume down, because it hurts my ears. It's almost as if they require a burn in to smooth out the highs. Other than that, the highs are regular. The mids are really the highlight of the earbuds. They are smooth, and are a pleasure to listen to, especially when a song contains stringed instruments. The lows are perfect. Whether it's a good hip-hop song, or a piano, the replication of the lows are near perfect.
I simply love the cord.Read more ›
First, we want to thank you for being a loyal JLab customer! Fans like you help make us better! We're sorry to hear that the comfort of the EPIC earbuds was not up to your liking. We worked hard and tested dozens of models on hundreds of ears in an attempt to craft an earbud that could truly be customized to every ear and create we viewed as a tailored fit. This said, we fully realize every ear is different.
In this spirit, and in our tests, we find that several users have required different tip/cush fin combinations for each ear. While at first it could take a little bit of time to find the combination that fits you comfortably, once you do - we're confident you'll never have to touch them again. Please reach out to us at 866.358.6640 and we can work with you to find the right fit.
And if we can't, we'll do what it takes to make you happy. Thanks again for the support John!
Hook it Up. Rock it Out.
I'm also very pleased with the EPIC's performance while working out/running. I've been searching for a set of earbuds that don't need to be adjusted every 5 minutes while running or lifting weights and am pleased to say that I've finally found the answer in this product. I didn't have to touch them at all over the course of a 45 minute workout. There is also very little cord noise which is a huge plus if you're an active person.
Also, these things just look sweet. I really enjoy the style and fit, and the flat cord goes a long ways towards preventing cord tangling while they're in your pocket or bag. My only complaint is that the in-line remote on my pair doesn't seem to work. It's not much of an issue for me because I wouldn't use it much anyway. It's also important to note that the remote doesn't have volume controls on it, just a single pause/play button
Overall, I couldn't be happier with these and I'd highly recommend them to anyone looking for great sound quality and design for a very reasonable price.
