Cecelia Mecca is a kick arse author. I love this series. When a new book comes out it is like revisiting old friends that you haven't seen for a while.
For those out there who have not yet read a Mecca book, you cannot go wrong.
Cecelia Mecca has again written an amazing story that will pull you in with her wonderful prose and vivid descriptions.
The scenes are painted vividly, making you feel you're there. It's an emotional, romantic book that captured and held me from start to finish.
This story is emotional and devours you as you read it, tearing yourself from the book is not an option.

The story is well crafted and Dr. Mecca does such a wonderful job of portraying an authentic and real setting for her medieval stories. So many historic novels set in the borderlands are almost silly in how the characters act but the Borderlands series transports you to the time and issues they are set in. Each book stands alone but I really enjoy revisiting the previous characters like Geoffrey and Lady Sara in The Earl's Entanglement. Her female characters are strong and independent, but appropriate to the time.
As the attraction grows between Emma and Garrick, as well as the lust, their situation seems all the more impossible. If Garrick breaks his engagement he risks war and loss of his mother's lands in Scotland. His honor is also at stake, and he feels a sense of guilt (have to read the book) that he cannot shake. It is an entanglement indeed! It seems as though Emma and Garrick are doomed but you will love the ending (yes, you have to read it). There are some steamy scenes after the sexual tension almost ignites you e-reader too. Grab a copy now.
The stories take place during the reign of King Edward and the men are strong and the women are feisty.
Likes: the location/timeline is unique to my reading, which makes the story building that much more entertaining for me. Given that this is a series; we will see many of the same characters traversing the different halls or at least made mention of. I always love the chemistry that exists between the hero and heroine and often the sudden “hit on the back of the head” when one or the other finally realizes that they are in love, for indeed, these stories all have a happily ever after.
“The Earl’s Entanglement” is book five in Cecelia Mecca’s Border Series and while each story does work as a standalone, you really are best starting with book one
Lady Emma loves her elder brothers, but their protectiveness is getting to be too much. Now they’ve ask a Garrick Helmsley her escort her to one of his old friend, the Countess of Kenshire. On the journey Garrick can’t seem to resist the vivacious Lady Emma and the more time he spends with her, the more he wishes to end his betrothal. Emma is everything he wants in a bride. Lady Emma has pledged never to marry a powerful, domineering man yet the Earl stirs her passions as no one ever has before and she soon realizes she wants more from Garrick than he’s able to give her. I love how the love blossoms between Garrick and Emma, they’re both engaging characters. Their struggle to keep things on a friendship levels becomes extremely difficult as the journey continues, until they cannot deny their wants and desires, but at what cost. Their love could possibly start a war with his greedy Uncle and will he’ll lose his Scottish inheritance. The betrothal stands between them. Will Garrick break it and possible cause a war, will he sacrifice everything for the woman he loves. Garrick walks a fine line between starting a war and he and Emma finding the HEA they deserve!!!
This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review.
This is another great read from Ms. Mecca. I highly recommend this book and the first four books of this series.
