Daniel Arenson has managed to do something very rare, take a very real and current issue of PTSD and weave it into a fantastic story.
I have never felt so connected to a story and I rarely care so much about what happens next.
This is a book of the ages, a modern classic. I really hope they make this into a TV series!
Can't wait for Book 5
From the start Daniel Arenson explained that this story was a continuation of the series but a bit of an aside to address a very serious issue. PTSD...Post Traumatic Stress Disorder...literally learning to deal with all the horrible shift that y'all committed and occurred in front of your eyes while defending the Earth from a near death experience, for it and you (multiple times for you). Currently, EVERY minute of EVERY day, twenty two (22) active duty and mustered out veterans COMMIT SUICIDE. Why? How? Read Earth Fire to climb into their skins, breathe their air, relive their nightmares, and live in their shoes for awhile. Thankfully for you, dear reader IT IS A STORY... unfortunately, it is real for all those affected by PTSD. Thank you Daniel for dragging these issues out into the light so the nightmares can ease.
Our gang struggles through the storms of their new existence and discover how to defeat a new enemy...themselves. The discovery of an impending insidious horror pulls them together once again and launches them skyward, back in to the battle for life. This is getting better and better...bring them on!!!
With that said, the book was very good, cant wait for the next one.
These next three were harder and harder to get through.
Character development was laboured.
There were few new characters developed and beyond endless portrayal of PTSD nothing really develops with the existing characters
Plot lines painfully slow to develop and when they did they were beyond even the most escapist readers ability to believe.
I don't want to put in spoilers so I wont put in details but how 5 people can save the entire world while millions in the military are slaughtered is beyond belief
