As a result, they are incredibly biased and believe they are the top of the heap when it comes to military strength and are certain that they can and should dominate any culture they find on planets their gateways can link to. Poor idiots.... They don't believe in magic... Too bad, so sad.
Events mostly take place after Empire of the One and are focused on Earth's actions getting their gate back up and running. There are some early parts meant to show what the stranded soldiers were up to between getting kidnapped by Pax and the re-connection with Earth.
No real problems with the book. I enjoy the writing and the world. It is getting a little chaotic keeping track of all of the disparate threads. The previous book (Dancer, I think) was much better as it focused on a single story.
Xen, the God of spies undertakes many new and amusing missions to confuse the invasion efforts. Many new characters are introduced to the series and should make good story fodder for years to come. Keep 'em coming, Pam!
