About the Author
Allie Bates lives in the sweltering summers and temperate winters of Tennessee, about as far as you can get from Scotland, in a zoo full of offspring, dogs, cats, computers and unfinished books clamoring to be completed. When she is not reading or writing, shes teaching English, Drama or Creative Writing in an inner city high school, writing book reviews or screenplay critiques, grading writing (a thing which can not possibly be done), editing both the schools annual literary magazine and the neighborhoods newsletter, and driving homeless Basenjis to new homes via the Basenji Underground Railroad. She is a former member of "Tripod," a splinter support group of the Memphis RWA chapter whose eyes and pens ruthlessly critiqued Earthchild; but now she writes in the virtual isolation of her den, with only the feedback of her middle child Ben, a brilliant plotter well on his way to being a Fantasy writer himself.
