This is a feel-good story of independence and love and the choices we're faced with when pursuing our goals. I enjoyed reading this fast-paced and engaging book- it made me laugh and cry, and it reminded me of surviving my own 25-year old quarter-life crisis and the love of family and friends that helps us through it. Strongly encouraged for book club reading as it offers many interesting discussion topics.
East of Oz made me feel like I was living in the news industry from the first page to the very end. It really makes you think about what is news and what is entertainment. My favorite part was all of the interesting characters, and what each of them added to India's life. I haven't fallen in love with a family like this since The Altmans in So This is Where I Leave You. Toward the end I wasn't sure what India was going to do, or even what I wanted her to do, but the final resolution was perfect!
I could NOT put this book down...even when I had to get up and go teach the next morning! Heather creates a lovable and quirky character in India, that I found myself rooting for, even from the beginning. I also think too, that each of us can find a piece of ourselves in India, and her inner dialogue is guaranteed to make you chuckle. Tastefully written, this romance story will leave you with a warm feeling...and wanting to read more books from this talented author!
Reading this book brought me back to my Midwest roots! The details and overall feel were spot on! I loved all of the characters... they were believable and each had their own qualities and vices you can relate to. This book was fun because you were sitting down with family and friends you really have! The romance in this story was heated tastefully and kept me turning the pages!
East of Oz is a beautifully written book! I enjoyed getting to know the characters, the families of the main characters and the fun neighbors that India meets in Kansas. I will now be looking for a recipe for brownies with Andes mints! This book is written in such vivid detail that I can easily see it as a movie.
I wish I could write a review half as well as the author wrote this book. Her way of describing the characters and events in the story made me feel like I was right there. From the newsroom to the weather in Kansas to the tragedy to love and friendship - it's all in this book and I enjoyed every minute of it!
Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Author wrote this book with enough conflict to keep it interesting, but not bog down the reader. Very descriptive of characters and surroundings, felt like I had met them and visited their house.
This is a can't put it down kinda book! I felt like I was going through all of the life changing events with India. I don't want to give away any plot twists but be assured there are many. This is a must read.
