I've waited several months to read this, well, since the author posted that she'd gotten a deal for a full length novel. And I will tell you the wait was well worth it. This is so different from anything I've read from her so far and was delighted. Now don't get me wrong, I've really enjoyed all I've read of Deanna, but this was truly awesome.
It would seem that Michael and Snake are two very unlikely allies, as on the outside they are so very different. However, as the story progresses we find they may be more alike than they even know. The readers will see a tenderness in Snake that I think he tries to keep hidden, due to his past circumstances, and Michael has a hidden strength that I'm not sure he even knew he had.
Ms. Wadsworth did a fantastic job with character development. I fee that I truly got to know these two men. Now that doesn't mean this book is predictable...au contraire! Not even close. This read has some huge twists and turns that I didn't see coming. I literally shouted, "Wait! What? Oh no you didn't!" But she did. Totally knocked my socks off with where this story went.
Deanna, I absolutely LOVED this. You should be so proud of yourself. You keep writing....I always keep reading.
I liked this book. It was scrappy, exactly I expected, and a good read. It had the toughness of the road, the action of the motorcycle scenes you’d expect, and the bonding of people on the move and on the run. It may not have delved deep into emotions, nor layered into reflective thinking, but who has time for that if you are doing a bike road action gay romance book while the leads are also avoiding a bike gang too? Can Stallone or even Awnoooold declare many of their action romps have thinking merits? Let’s face it, THE Batman movie that almost sunk the whole franchise was the one starring the former Governor, who can barely walk and talk to begin with. No idea why they put him then into a Mr. Freeze suit that inhibited his walking even more and then had a thick glass helmet muffling and distorting his speech even worse! But I digress.
That said, I thought the Ms. Wadsworth delved deeply into Michael’s and Snake’s backgrounds so many layers, as the book progressed, the rich tapestry that was sewn enriched the story with each dip into the past wells. Usually I hate these dips back, totally halting the forward motion of the present storyline for a bland flip back. But these seemed almost more and more interesting than what was going on presently at times. Almost like how Godfather 2 turned out.
The only reason I didn’t give it a higher rating was I guess I wanted … I don’t know. I loved the ending. I really, really liked the book. I’d recommend it to anyone. I wanted Michael to have more emotions in finding love before he even knew it? I knew Snake may not show it. He was the biker, and the stoic one. But as a reader, I kept needing someone somewhere, other than me.. to show emotions. LOL But, not everyone is a weeper like me. Ha. Good book. Peace.
