Easy Silence left me a bit conflicted. Honestly for the most part the book was just okay. Not amazing, but not the worst I have read either.
Samantha, or Sam, is the senators daughter. She seems to have everything, but in reality she would give it all up for a family that loved her. A family that was there for her. While her parents are off traveling through Europe Sam is staying with her grandmother who has Alzheimer's. She keeps thinking Sam is her dad's first girlfriend. She meets some of her dad's old friends and they obviously know some secret about her dad, but she cannot seem to figure out what it is. This was part of the not so good. It is obvious what the big secret is, it is even almost pointed out to her directly, and yet she is still like I have no idea what is going on. What is the big secret? Who was grandma talking about? I am going to be wilfully ignorant because it is not frustrating to read a character that seems to have their head stuck on the sand. That or is incredibly stupid and cannot add two and two to make four. Either way not the best.
Jaxson, or Jax, has not had the best of lives. Everyone in town thinks he is good for nothing since his parents both are. That annoyed me a bit. I was glad that Sam would stick up for him with everyone. She would always yell at them to not judge him based on what his parents did. That was one of the good parts of the story, one of the things I liked. Jaxson needed someone on his side since almost everyone in their town seems to be against him. When Jaxson first meets Samantha he is pretty terrible to her. He thinks she has it all and she is too good for him. They slowly get together and fall in love and make plans for the future.Read more ›
POV: Samantha's POV
Overall Pace of Story: It was a nice pace I think. Jax's walls were hard to get through because he was so damaged -- so one might say it was slow...but I feel like it was just right.
H rating: 4 stars. Jaxson. Good looking but really damaged man with a good heart. A protector at his core.
h rating: 4 stars. Samantha. I kinda cringed at her efforts to get through to Jax at first, but she won me over with her persistence.
Angst level: High. I was balling at the end of this one! Tissues definitely required.
Heat level: Moderate. Some steamy scenes, but mostly about the emotional connection vs. the physical...just the right amount.
Descriptive sex: Yes and no...parts are physically described but others are more focused on emotional connections.
Closure: OMG!! I am still emotional from this one!! Well... This is a hard one to write about. Was there closure? Yes definitely. Was it they closure I wanted? Hell no! It's a hard one to rate for sure.
I didn't need a box of tissues for this book, or a paper towel because i knew how it was going to end so I was prepared. I guess this is one book that I shouldn't have read all of the reviews beforehand, it kind of ruined it for me.
I wish there could have been better things for these 2 characters after everything they went through, that's what made it sad for me. So, all in all, I liked this book a lot but I didn't love it.
This story weaves a tale of love that surpasses all time. Past, present, and ever lasting. The writing is beautiful, the storms these two face is heartbreaking and the time together is flawless.
Samantha is the strong girl, hidden behind a preconceived notion of the "that girl." Jax has been through tragedy- some he is unaware of and is the epitome of broken. These two heal each other, yet become shattered together.
This story is not for the faint of heart and you will believe in love when you read their story.
