As a new release in February 2015, I had pre-ordered this item from Amazon, for $19.88. Once it arrived, I immediately played the blu-ray disc on my TV.
Right away, here is something which potential buyers should know..... although the live video is a Very nice addition to any Bob Marley fan's collection, it contains only about half of the entire concert (which appears on the enclosed audio CD).
The CD contains 13 songs from the live performance, but the Blu-ray disc (and I'm sure, the DVD, as well) contains only 7 of those songs.
WTF?? Did the director run out of film, or-??
And, by the way, the live footage frequently switches to animated sequences, such as palm trees, fire, etc.. Although the animation is well done, it takes even more time away from the actual live performance.

In any case, it's strange that AMAZON failed to mention that the video disc is shamefully shorter than the audio CD. But, now that YOU are aware of this, you can decide if it's worth $19.88. Perhaps you should wait a few weeks until the price for used copies will reap a more fair purchase.

All that aside, I give BIG marks for the quality of the audio and video! The sound quality is Excellent, and the limited amount of video is a pleasure for this fan.

Long live Bob's memory & music. :)

Considering the wealth of live material that must exist in the Marley vault, it's somewhat surprising that these releases have barely trickled out over the years. The choices could be equally confounding at times as well. The Roxy '76 release was a good but restrained affair and the Pittsburgh '80 release was more significant in terms of its historical relevance (it was Bob's final concert) than the performance itself. Not to mention the sound quality was disappointing.

Good news! `Easy Skanking: Boston `78' captures BMW in full flight in front of an obviously adoring audience. The performance is riveting with sound quality to match. The band performed two shows that night in Boston and the Marley Estate wisely chose the early show for release. Both shows have been available for streaming on Wolfgang's Vault for years and I've always thought this one was the one to have.

The opening `Slave Driver' is as blissful as slipping into warm Caribbean water. The `Burning & Looting' segue directly into `Them Belly Full' is smooth as silk. Plus, `Easy Skanking' is a nice live rarity that doesn't pop up on any other official live collections.

While the sound is mostly superb, I do wish the guitars were mixed a tad higher in a couple, crucial spots so one star gets pulled for that. Otherwise, this is a must own release.

This cd surprised me. Different from the awful Kaya 35th anniversary the audio is excellent. Bob Marley is very inspired and delivers a so energetic performance. I thought "Get Up Stand Up" from Live! (1975) was the best live version I had heard until I listened to the version present on this release. It gives me the chills!

While it doesn't have the same emotional fire that the two cd "Live Forever," "Easy Skanking in Boston '78" is certainly a worthy Marley live release; Marley sounds vibrant and full of passion, and the Wailers play with fire in the belly. Especially commendable are the performances of "Slave Driver," "Heathen," "Get Up, Stand Up," and "Exodus," as well as a beautiful, bluesy "No Woman, No Cry." The sound quality is absolutely fantastic: crystal clear, with Bob's voice right atop the mix, sounding on each track like he's delivering a sermon from the mount. Just a beautiful recording and a must for Marley fans.

As a collector of Bob Marley live shows I am happy to have this. I've had this concert for a long time but am happy to hear it with such great quality. I am little less excited about the DVD. As others have mentioned, it is not the complete show. Also the footage is mostly of Marley and his face and the band is not shown very much. Still a great collectible. I am happy to have this piece of history.

CD is simply awesome. The DVD is unfortunately a disappointment with far too much time taken up with pointless animation sequences and slow-mo camera that doesn't even match the song being played (No Woman specifically). Wont watch the DVD again, honestly, but the CD is so great it earns the four stars. The fifth I withhold because of the DVD.
OK, I will grant that the Get Up and Jammin footage is killer. If only the rest of it was as good.

Anything by Bob is good ,don't have to think twice.I was at that concert in 1978 and was seated very close to the stage.Had a good look at Bob,and I tell you it was very electifrying that night.I was so excited when I heard of that CD coming out.
I would recommend this cd to anyone I think it's a must have.I do have all of his live cd's but I must say this one ranks right at the top.Just listen to I Shot The Sheriff,Slave Driver,Them Belly Full ,just to see how he got into his groove.Bob was a master of his craft.
Bob Lives.

WHY? WHY?? WHY???......... Why on earth did it take so long to get a live cd from Bob Marley that sounds so great? I mean, I am a fan of Marley and I don't just like him, I Love Him! I so wish that there a lot more Official QUALITY CDS released. There's got to be good quality concerts that The Powers That Be can bring out to the world. Right? Please. Please. Please. I'm begging you release more shows! Don't wait till the long time fans are dead and buried. This show is awesome. It's like they are playing right in your living room. WILL THIS EVER HAPPEN AGAIN?
