It contains maps to allow you to plan your walks and find the parking at the trailheads. It has icons to let you know the bathroom status and whether you can bring your favorite dog along on a new (to you) trail. She even describes each walk well so you know whether it's shady or an open field or anything in between. As I take on a new trail in her book I know she has been here recently...she tells me about the big roots or dirt bike ruts I might need to look out for. She has references to the trails' "owners", those wonderful invisible folks who maintain these beautiful, peaceful, natural resources. She belongs to many of the groups responsible for the different and numerous trails. You can find them all in the back of her book. This book opens the door for you to walk and wander and learn about our beautiful part of this world. I highly recommend her Second Edition!
This book is well organized with clear descriptions of the various trails. I absolutely love the maps showing multiple trails for when the group wants more than one 'easy walk'.
The symbols are easy to understand and a great way to allow children to help pick a place to explore.
Marjorie offers great advice about adventures she wants to share with others. They read beautifully, and, if you're lucky, you may even meet Marjorie on the trails and learn even more!
My guy and I travel with it on a regular basis, it has provided us with many fun little afternoon adventures.
Highly recommend it for anyone wanted to get out and enjoy nature.
