1- Fill the coin tube with the correct number of coins (the slot indicates the correct number
2 - open the paper wrapper and slide it over the coins at the top the tube. This was initially very "tricky" for us initially, but here is what finally worked:
- When pushing the wrapper over the top of the coins in the tube, be GENTLE. And at the same time you're pushing down, slightly twist the wrapper - one direction, then the other. - keep pushing AND twisting - VERY GENTLY and all of a sudden you'll feel the wrapper slip down, either a little or a lot. - keep twisting and pushing until it slides all of the way down to the end of the tube (or almost all the way)
NOTE: sometimes it helps if you pull back on the wrapper JUST a little - then begin again to push and twist
- with the wrapper at the end, hold your index finger on the top coin in the tube while you turn the tube upside down. (the bottom of the coin tube should now be facing up). While keeping your finger on the top coin in the tube (this is now facing down), push down on the coins at the bottom of the inside of the tube. At that point, all of the coins, and the wrapper, will slide out of the tube. (You may need to gently shake the tube to start the movement downward). - Keeping your fingers on each end of the coin filled wrapper, gently shake to eliminate any space - Fold-in the ends of the wrapper -- then end. (I hope my description doesn't makes the process sound daunting -- this process could not be easier once you 'get' the 'feel' of it.
It only took me several rolls to get the hang of how to use the tubes and extract the coins in the wrappers, but I can't imagine it will take most people many more rolls than that to get in a groove. Once you do you should be able to "roll" along pretty quickly. (It's a fairly mindless activity that you can do while watching TV!) I began with pennies and they were a little tougher than the other three coins, even after I got the hang of it. I have about $50 worth of them and am going to give them to my 12 yr old grandson, along with the tubes and wrappers and he can put in the work and keep the cash.
For what it's worth, the trick to the quick completion of a roll is to let the tubes do the work. I tested the slot mechanism for accuracy several times and it passed each one. When inserting the wrapper, be gentle (always good advice) and give it a slight twist as you insert. If you get frustrated and try and force the wrapper in you're liable to crimp the paper and ruin the wrapper (they work well but are not the toughest material on the planet and the paper has to stay flat and crimp free to slide over the coins).
Again after a few rolls, you should figure this all out by yourself...unless you're a complete klutz in which case you should spend the money for the electric gizmo or give up 12% of the take to one of those coin sorters you can find at Walmarts
Considering the cost, this is a very good value product.
