The book cites several scientific studies, including one in which a group of males were put on semi-starvation diets which led to eating disorders including binging (proving that this is caused by women's tendency to starve themselves).
I found myself collecting numerous quotes from this book.
+++ If you eat when you are not hungry it is like stopping and getting fuel for your vehicle when it doesn't need it.
+++ Hypnosis is a natural state. .. It is not mind control. It is not magic. It is a safe, natural and effective means for using the language of the unconscious mind.
+++ The truth of the matter is you can believe anything you want to believe.
+++ Belief power is a thousand times stronger than will power.
+++ Using the phrase "I notice" will focus your consciousness.
+++What forgiveness allows you to do is be free from the negative emotional connection to the past.
The book deals with changing your beliefs, not identifying with "your story," rewriting "your story," forgiveness, affirmations, gratitude, and much more. By the time you implement some of these strategies, you will be a whole new person--it's not just about weight loss, but spiritual transformation. I also love how the author shares her own personal pain and how she dealt with it--she had been ostracized from her entire work and social support group, but this pain fueled an awakening.
My favorite part of the entire book is the section on how to release emotions, and how to embrace your feelings, whatever they are. I love her "bring it on!" attitude. This is proven to help us release emotions and feelings--you have to feel to heal, as they say.
Each chapter begins with a quote and ends with practical action steps. Though there is sufficient information dealing specifically with eating issues, this book could also serve as a general spiritual transformation book -especially for anyone with issues of addiction.
