This book is like a breath of fresh air in that it does not preach to you, but rather forces you to open up an honest conversation with yourself about your current health and future goals. I have dog-eared numerous pages as the author thoughtfully discuss a subject (like caffeine, hydration or veganism) to get you thinking and asking questions and THEN gives you further resources so you can go and continue that honest conversation. Having a resource like this to help unravel the tangled web of self-help and nutrition books is priceless! I was provided a free ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.
It takes a skilled writer and artisan who knows her craft to keep this handbook to vitality so simple and compelling. Charlotte does just that. She was both saved and screwed by the medical profession. This book is her journey back to health and in the process shows a sensible mosaic for us all to follow, beginner or long-term believer.
Hesitant to eat good fats; read what she has to say about cholesterol. Life offers us no guarantees, so start living. A deep, profound spiritual truth; yet people live in fear and seek solice in the illusion of safety that the medical model advocates. Charlotte even shows us how to be sick in peace!
When I eat, just eat. A wonderful reminder for me in mindfulness. I had become too busy.
Charlotte teaches us to trust our intuition and inherent wisdom by listening closely to our bodies. She passionately reminds us that what we eat for breakfast effects how we feel in the evening.
Digest this book in peace as you learn to eat in peace!! You will be much wiser and have more vitality for life!
Charlotte has described herself as a Hot Mess with Anxiety and Depression..No holding back there !
She emphatically states and displays that illness is an opportunity for Healing. .I do like that line of thought !
I laughed myself silly at all the raw facts and emotions she describes in her journey to health and happiness.
Eat in Peace is Raw Food and Raw Talk. Refreshing.. Enjoy. It is laced with profanity from beginning to end. Just so you know.

"WHEN YOU ARE GETTING SICK YOU ARE GETTING WELL!"
Thank you Charlotte for writing your truth which allows me now to FACE MY TRUTH ... and for opening my eyes to a new perspective on sickness as really a "roadmap" of sorts yo getting well. The path to getting sick can be a longer one than most may really understand and eventually it can lead to obesity, disease, mental/emotional issues, eating disorders, and etc. You wrote how "getting sick is a time to reflect on your life" and that we should start questioning "how did I get here?" Peeling the onion GIVES ME PERMISSION to own what I did and the role I played on my own personal health challenged journey. I LOVE THIS PERSPECTIVE. Your gentle yet honest approach gives me "permission" to face what I need to and your tips/tricks/recipes give me the ANSWERS I need to make healthy changes that are doable and sustainable.
I was provided a free ARC copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. This review is from my heart and every part of my body, mind and soul is affected by the information Charlotte shares!
