Looks and feels okay, but the weight shown on the indicator varies significantly every time you lift up the same bag, without altering its contents. For example, the first time you lift it up, it might settle on 47 lbs, then you reset, put down the bag, lift it up again and receive a reading of 56 lbs.
This is too high a variable for the heavily punitive charges air lines dish out for overweight luggage. Returning this item.
UPDATE: September 2012
After I returned the item, EatSmart got in touch and offered a free replacement.
I travel regularly and have used the replacement one a few times since, and it has none of the inconsistency of the dud one. So far, everything seems to be working well enough, and I get the same weight each time I lift. This weight is also pretty close to what the luggage counters say when I get to the airport, give or take a pound.
