If you are looking for ways to prepare acorn by itself then there are scant few examples.
I gave the book 3 of 5 stars because it does have some pretty pictures and good preparation techniques, but I think the first Samuel Thayer book does a better job of the latter. Of course, his book has few recipes, too. I honestly don't care about recipes so much as learning how acorn prepared in different ways responds differently. I already know how to make bread and various treats with traditional methods so I'm curious what the properties of different types of acorns are without my own trial and error. In a book titled "Eating Acorns" I was expecting something a little different.
