I have to admit that I'm not much of a cook, but this book makes it simple to eat and cook, yes cook at home, during pregnancy. Healthy recipes and practical nutrition advice are the key. I especially love the last chapter called nine months later. Sometimes it's hard to imagine your pregnancy ever ending, but this book takes you beyond delivery into healthy eating with menus and illustrated exercises. It's just good solid nutrition advice for the whole family. Love it!

Holy cow. What a lifesaver. My wife and I are pregnant with our first child. The insanity of owning your own business AND being pregnant is enough to drive you crazy. PLUS, now we have to watch everything she eats. My wife is very healthy anyway, but sometimes you just need a plan. The 7 day suggested eating plan was a Godsend. One trip to the grocery store and BAM a weeks worth of 2000 calorie, balanced, nutritious meals with snacks. This has made our lives so much easier. It is also very informative about what things you should eat or snack on as alternatives to your "normal" eating routine. It is in our kitchen 24/7 and we love it. So easy to read, so easy to follow, so easy to just pick out the parts you need. Great reference book and eating guide with REALLY good recipes. I hate meatloaf, but man, the recipe in the book made meatloaf that I did not know you could make. I LOVE it!!!

The recipes I tried were good but I was disappointed to find there were no photos of any of the recipes. While I guess pictures are not entirely needed and the nutritional information was very helpful, I still would have preferred more photos to entice me into trying more of the recipes.

so basic... good for absolute beginners for healthy food in general . It talks about healthy eating, but I was hoping for more specifics to eat during each trimester and what nutrients are essential.

I really appreciated the meal planning sections of this book. Although you know you're supposed to be eating this many servings of this or that, it can be really hard to figure out how to put those into your day. This book does a lot of the planning for you. It even gives helpful tips for eating on the go or out and about. The recipes are pretty yummy, although not all of them were my favorite.

I don't actually like the recipes as is but I make my own version. I like that it tells you what the health benefits are for each meal but I think calling a grilled cheese sandwich healthy is a bit of a stretch! However I do like the educational info in the front of the book.

I checked out all the reviews and chose this book to purchase for my daughter to have as a reference during her first pregnancy. It has tips on what to eat to lessen morning sickness--wish I had had that information :) and is full of nutritious recipes for pregnancy and beyond. It is a good solid reference book that she will use a lot. I highly recommend it.
