Famous for their illustration, web design, fonts and games, eBoy have a cult following internationally.The eBoy world is unique, populated by robots, cars, guns and girls, all built up out of thousands of pixels. This is the first book devoted to their work, and with 500 pages it is the eBoy bible, containing their complete image database. Three quarters of the book is devoted to pixel-based work, and the other quarter to vector images by Peter Stemmler.

The images shown include eBoy's trademark eCities. Inspired by a love of buildings and architecture and the challenge of endlessly recombing different urban elements, these are painstakingly detailed and abound with monsters, seedy bars and porno cinemas. Another eBoy innovation is Peecol, an online project which invites users to recombine elements of images to form new ones.

Inspired by popular culture--shopping, supermarkets, televisions, LEGO, computer games--eBoy's imagery is colorful, funny, subversive and startlingly original.

About the Author

eBoy was founded in 1998 by Steffen Sauerteig, Svend Smital and Kai Vermehr in Berlin. They were later joined by Peter Stemmler sho is now based in New York. eBoy produce illustration, web design, advertising, fonts and games. Their work has been featured in numerous publications including Lufthansa Magazine, and Jetzt, Germany; Visuelt, Norway; Kreativtforum, Finland; idN Magazine, Hong Kong; and De Volksrant, The Netherlands.

This book is very hard core.. an awesome collection of excellent raster pixel graphics, and the occasional vector drawing. It also prominently features imagery for gaming, and there is a subtle flavour of Sept. 11 featuring throughout the book - how game designers used to think in terms of destruction and *** GAME OVER *** Is the game over for gaming after Sept. 11? Great book from a design perspective and highly talented designers eboy are.

-- this book does contain imagery that may upset sensitive viewers. it also contains nudity -- as cute as it may appear it is NOT RECOMMENDED FOR CHILDREN.

cool d'avoir un "best of close up Eboy", une bible d'éléments décors isolés, de planches de props, d'illustrations pop art. Mais Eboy ça cartonne vraiment quand c'est en format full XXXL "4D" et qu'il y en a de partout, le must medium pour Eboy, qui prend tout son sens, reste le maxi puzzle avec leur compos délirantes et leur onirisme binaire des grandes cités du monde !!!.... là vous vous éclaterez vraiment et sans vous en rendre compte, conceptuellement vous serez pris dans cet univers compulsif, rassurant et inquiétant, déshumanisé et pourtant si drôle ;)

ドット絵が特に有名なeboyですがこの本にはそれ以外の絵もあります

基本的には大きなドット絵とその使用素材集という感じです
脈略もなく少し不気味なタッチの裸の絵がかなりの頻度で含まれています
同じように家族との写真も同じ頻度で唐突に挿入されています

大きなドット絵とその素材についていえば
割と順序が混ざっていたり何度か見かけたようなものまで繰り返し流用されているので今までの作品を総整理する為の本のようにも思えます

本として出すのであればもう少し見やすく整理して欲しかったです

一番ガッカリしたのはeboyと言えば大きなドット絵ですが掲載絵も少なく他でも使用されているものもかなりあったことです
