About the Author

Gustav Tjgaard, winner of the 2013 Literary Classics International Book Award, was born on Decatur Island in the San Juan Archipelago in the State of Washington. He began his career at the age of fourteen, sailing as a ship’s boy on the five masted schooner Vigilant. His teen years were spent aboard the Vigilant and in the streets of Canton in the late 1930s. He currently lives in Pacifica, California. This is his sixth published book.
