The Echo Logico Retro Handset is a simple handset that plugs into any mobile phone, tablet or PC. Available in six bold colors, the Retro Handset features a bright cool look with a soft-touch easy grip. The nostalgic look of the Retro Handset plays on a chunky, old-fashioned telephone receiver design, but combines the comfort and convenience of these traditional handsets with modern functionality, including a high-quality speaker and microphone and easy-to-use pick-up and hang-up buttons. Fitted with a 3.5mm jack, it's compatible with all devices (some may require adaptors).

BTW, the Native Union brand seems pretty good to. Just not quite as good as this one overall, but pretty decent.
In summary, I think this is the best one of these types of handsets available on Amazon right now. Just make sure you actually get this brand when you order. I think you will with this link.
For people who don't have a land line phone in their homes, I find this handset to be quite comfortable to use, your hand does not get as tired as holding a mobile phone on long calls - that is probably the reason AT&T did not change the design of its handsets over the years. Just set your mobile on a nearby table and chat away. Also, by not holding your mobile up to your noggin, you are not exposing it to any radiation, in fact Echo Logico claims it blocks 99% of your phone's radiation, so not only does it look cool, but it is healthier for you as well.
The sound quality of the Retro Handset is pure retro, I mean it sounds like the old school phones as well. That is neither a good nor a bad thing, at least if you are using it for voice communications. It absolutely has the same sound as the old landline phones. It is as if Echo Logico has bought the remaining stock of handsets from Western Electric and adapted them for the digital age. One advantage over the old phones that the Echo Logico has is that you can raise or lower the volume from your mobile, laptop, tablet. The sound quality is clear, not harsh, but not as good as my iPhone by itself which has a broader frequency response (i.e. - more bass and treble). This handset is quite acceptable, though. Let's face it though, if you want it to be retro, you want it to SOUND a little retro as well. I think you want to be the first one walking down the street talking on your Echo Logico Retro Handset, with the coiled cord waving as you walk.
Oh and a few more things, the multifunction button allows you to hang up if you are on a call without fumbling for your phone, and if you press the button when not on a call it plays your music, at least on the iPhone. The music sounds like it is coming through the phone like a call on hold though, so I'm not sure why you would want to do that, don't you get enough of that during daily life?
