very disappointed to find out it doesn't connect to the TV, pretty much the only thing it does is to play music. When i call the customer service, i asked them about return options. The lady sounds annoyed, and she said she put in a return order for me, but i have to pay restocking fee. I told her i do not want to proceed, and asked her to cancel the return order, she said she can't do it, and i have to follow the instruction from the email to print the label and pay for it.
So i go to the amazon web site and find out I can cancel the return order on my own, and I bring it to Kohl to return.
I think the advisement for the subwoover didn't make it clear to let people knows it is "not" a speaker, and it doesn't connect to the TV.
VERY poor customer service, i would expect amazon to have better customer service than this.
i like amazon and purchased many things through them, i have my smarthome build only through amazon alexa, but after this bad experience, i may need to think again and consider google home or apple home.
They really need to improve their customer service.

I'm an Echo fan with 8 devices in the house including 3 Dots and 5 Echo gen 2; however, the sub comes up short on performance for several reasons:

Bass is too week to fill the room - We have subwoofers in three other rooms and placement is not critical and they're place in the most convenient location. The Echo Sub is so weak it wouldn't fill the room and I had to place near one of the Echo's to get any real sensation of bass.

Sounds disconnected from the music in the Echos - I'm running a stereo set of Echo generation two's and the sub doesn't sound natural with the main music coming through the stereo Echos. More like my three year old granddaughters are play a toy bass drum while I'm trying to listen to music.

Bass response is too limited - Not nearly as good as smaller subs that are slaved to TV soundbars. These sound like the cheap speakers you get when they come with a computer bundle.

Hope Amazon has some firmware fixes that will make these a bit better; otherwise, wait for the next generation.

Sad the sub doesn't perform better as I looked forward to the addition and I'm very pleased with the other Echo products.

I bought this under the assumption that I could tap audio output from TV to the left or right channel, then propagate that across the 2.1 combination of Echo Plus, Echo Plus, and Echo Sub. It does not work that way. You will only get sound to one of the Echo Plus speakers. Suppose you could split it and have audio to both Echo Plus' but unless you have the correct cables you will get dual mono. And the sub does not connect through line-in. This should have been clarified in the marketing / description.

Also, if you still want to buy and use this for input, be sure to go into the Alexa app and select "Input" instead of output to speaker in the Aux Line connection setting.

I have had my Echo sub for a little over a week now and I must say, I like it a lot. I have a total of 4 Alexa devices (5 counting the sub) in my house and I've always thought that the music was lacking a little omph. I paired the sub with the Alexa that we use the most and setup only took about 5 minutes and was pretty seamless. The sub and the Echo that it is paired with are about 15 feet apart. Now my music has more of that bottom end that I have been missing and the sound actually fills the room much better. I have noticed that when speaking to Alexa with the music playing will sometimes cause the sub to stop until the next song but not always. As another reviewer noted, the sub only functions with music. Ask Alexa a question or have her do a task and no sub. Also, I added the sub to my music group and it will play with all of the Echos in the group. One reviewer said that their Echo sub would not play with their music group but, they also noted that they got a sub and two Echos to have stereo. I only have my sub paired with one Echo. Maybe that is the difference in having the sub function as part of a group.

Overall I think that the sub is a great addition and, if they change the functionality so that it works all the time, I would give it 5 stars.

It did take time to set up, have patience, it is worth it. You just need to pay attention to the directions that Amazon emails to you when you order the device. Mainly setting up the echos first and waiting for them to download firmware. I am not sure what people are complaining about, the sound it awesome, having two echos synced as a left and right makes a huge difference and then add the bass and it makes it even awesome. The sub makes the entire floor of my house vibrate. If you add the stereo group that includes your sub to your other groups it will include the bass with all the echoes playing at once. It creates a great stereo sound around the house.

The system dose not stay in sync i was on the phone with them for another 45 min earlier tonight, the second time tonight and they have issues with there soft wear. Again a tenth grader that plays video games could right better app , programs. The system cant even remember a play list that I made from their site even though i played it on a first gen alexa that I bought when it came out. Straight out truth is it will not stay in sync and I not even knowing i think their system is overwhelmed. Will not stay in sync or maybe when it wants to. Again stay away for the product . Makes me mad that now i want to send it back and i have to go threw the trouble and waist my time because of their junk. I do not think they will post this but if they do buyer beware.

The sound is great but you can really only listen to Amazon music. I wanted to connect to Bluetooth devices but the audio only comes out of one of the echos.

Also when not listening to music the echos aren't synced up. Sometimes one echo responds, sometimes both but one slightly delayed from the other.

Amazon never responded to my feedback/concerns. I'm pretty disappointed and will be returning.
