I was worried an order for a scope and solar filter I ordered wouldn't get to me in time for the Transit of Venus on June 5th, 2012 so as a proactive measure I ordered this product as well, and I'm so glad I did, my scope order didn't actually ship until June 7th, 2012 so I totally missed that boat there. Had I not ordered these I wouldn't have been able to see Venus with my own eyes with my friends. These will also come in very handy when the solar eclipse in August 2017 comes around.
Do NOT use these with a telescope or binoculars, you have been warned. These are designed to be held up to your eyes and look at the sun, not to block the laser beams of sunlight that you will probably make if you try to herpaderp using these with a magnification device.
Do NOT stare at the sun for extended periods using these.
Do hold these up to your eyes and look at the sun for a few moments, bask in the wonderment, and then look away for a few moments to let your eyes rest.
Do hand these to friends during a solar event and allow them to watch it as well.
The only downside of these was that since it's unmagnified one friend was unable to see anything since Venus was so small and they have horrible vision. The other friend I had unable to watch the transit didn't have the time to look for Venus since they had to get back to work before it was very visible and they worked until sunset. But these will come in very useful in a few years since that's the next MAJOR event I forsee me checking out because I'm not one to travel far for an eclipse.
