This is the best floss because 1) there's a lot off floss in one box so it lasts a long time, 2) it's plastic free but the paper box is sturdy and doesn't fall apart 3) the floss works well. The flat tape floss doesn't feel like it really works but this kind of floss does. 4) it's vegan.

Ok, it’s floss and it does the job, but the string is quite thin and can be a bit painful. I switched to buying Whole Foods brand floss and I like it a lot better. The best thing about this product is the quantity you get for the price.

There are so many things wrong with this product, I don't know where to begin......Let me say that I applaud manufacturers for trying to make safer products for our bodies. So the company definitely gets an "A" for safe ingredients. If you want a safe, toxic-free dental floss, this fits the bill. However, it isn't well made.

For starters, this literally feels like flossing with straw or hay.....it's very hard to floss in between teeth - it doesn't glide well, it gets stuck, tears, breaks, and it's somewhat uncomfortable because it's not smooth. I just can't see myself ever purchasing another box of this. It is so awful.

But the worst parts of using this floss is the packaging. Again, I applaud being environmentally friendly - it comes in a small cardboard box. The problem is that the cardboard box actually IS container to dispense the floss. However, it isn't clearly labeled as such on the package - it's written in very small print on the side of the box. I didn't see that though, until after I opened it. I couldn't figure out how to do open it correctly and accidentally tore the box, which meant it no longer has a dispenser and so it doesn't work as a dispenser anymore. The container has to be opened it a certain way and then you reseal it (or something like that) in order to have a functional dispenser.

I opened an old Oral B floss dispenser and put the rest of the Eco-Dent floss inside that to try to get it to work......it just shouldn't be this complicated opening dental floss!

I wish this company could reformulate their product so it glides better in between teeth. I also wish they would change the packaging to be more user friendly. I would definitely reconsider using it if they do so.

I bought this floss product a couple of times now. Given the whole issue surrounding plastic waste, you cannot fault the only ethical and sustainable floss on the market. Biodegradable is the name of the game. I'm certain that for many people this floss serves them perfectly well. Everyones teeth are different right. But I've found the floss seems somehow thicker or wider, because when I try to pull it through my teeth, it sometimes catches initially. So I have to pull quite hard, but then of course it gets through into the gap at quite a force and hits the gum. Also, this means it frays very easily. I assumed this was normal, but then I happened to try a friends Oral B floss which slips right through. To be fair I have also experienced this problem with other plastic flosses, so it seems the Oral B one is unique. Which makes me think this could be solved, because it may not be a unique problem to this silk floss. Maybe it's the coating on the Oral B stuff, which may mean there is no suitable eco friendly alternative. For now I will stick with the Eco-Dent, as it does what it says on the tin, but depends how bad my teeth get in future.

Fine floss for tight gaps, fairly green

This floss is finer than usual floss (which I can't fit between my teeth & previously had to use tape). It states that you can double it up for wider gaps, although you'd obviously use more that way. The minty/herby taste is very subtle so I usually don't notice it after brushing with mint toothpaste. The box withstood daily use for over 7 months well & I now have only a tiny plastic bag & bobbin to throw away; the box & the metal cutter get recycled.
Long-term effect? I had my usual dental check-up 4 months into using this and got excellent feedback. That doesn't mean it's any better than conventional floss, but it's certainly no worse.
Only 1 drawback: the floss itself is still nylon! I understand the only alternative at the moment is silk, which is not vegan, so we need something else...
