Product Description

Eco Teas Yerba Mate: We work in partnership with a family farm in Misiones, Argentina to offer the best yerba mate we've ever tasted. Our master farmers dry the yerba with a unique hot air process to achieve a robust, smoke-free taste. After aging, stems and powder are sifted out and returned to enrich the soil. Our yerba mate is a pure leaf product of exceptional quality. The Eco Teas Mission: Eco Teas is a small company in southern Oregon owned and run by three best friends. our mission is to offer certified organic sustainably-grown, fairly-traded world teas. Through conscious commerce, we work for personal and planetary health. In Argentina, we are helping our yerba mate farmers reclaim their ancestral land and cultivate it using sustainable permaculture techniques. We envision an organic, biodiverse, economically-productive landscape. What is Yerba Mate? Yerba Mate is a holly tree native to the rainforests of South America. The tea-like beverage made from its leaves is called mate. Mate is the national drink of Argentina, Paraguay and Uruguay. People from all walks of life have enjoyed its beneficial properties for centuries. Sipping mate with friends and family is an energizing, healthful daily ritual. Mate stimulation: What do you get when you combine half the caffeine of coffee with a powerful dose of antioxidants, vitamins, minerals, and phytonutrients? You get an energizing boost known in South America as mateine. Mateine raises your whole metabolism for balanced mental and physical stimulation. We regularly take Yerba mate as our tea and this particular brand is what we consume. It is easily available at our local supermarkets.

I would like to see subscribe and save of amazon become more popular and useful as it allows us to simplify things. But boy, someone at Amazon needs to listen to the customers and understand that the customers are educated.

Many many of your grocery prices are silly when compared with local market prices in US. This product is a perfect example. It sells at normal MSRP for $9.99/lb in Austin TX in WholeFoods or SunHarvest, yet amazon price is $16.67/lb for a bulk pack? In fact this trend is true in many of the departments. Amazon needs to start showing prices that are real rather than try to "show" a big discount. A good mindset to follow would be that of Costco/Sams rather than a shady pawn show.

Fix it, and amazon's subscription business for groceries & household utilities will take off like you wouldn't belove it. I for one would be happy to shift *all* of my reoccurring, non perishable food supply to Amazon.

Ive enjoyed the traditional mates, and was recently looking for unsmoked mate that does not contain the Polycyclic aromatic hydrocarbons (carcenogens) found in most mates that are smoke dried rather than air dried like this mate is.
that may be linked to mouth and lung cancers. Ive heard drinking a strong cup of traditional mate is equal to smoking 3 cigarettes, or was it 3 packs? I know that if i drink more than 1 cup I get sores in my mouth.

It doesnt taste as strong as smoked mate- I got used to the rich smokey taste of that and was a bit let down by the taste of this, but its still an excellent high quality mate, pure leaf with no powder or stems, and I enjoy it more now knowing that its much healthier for me.

Thank you eco teas!

I use mate with black tea to get an extra dose of caffeine in the morning. That way my brew is not bitter and it packs a punch. This mate is the best I have had. It is fresh smelling and tasting, and it has a lot of flavor in the cup. Most mates are more in the background of the black tea in my concoction. This mate is front and center. I really enjoy it.

On top of all that, it is not expensive. In fact, for its quality it is quite a bargain. I hope I can continue to get this product at this price.

I have a gourd and I have used it once or twice.

My preferred method is to use three cups of water to two teaspoons of tea and two of mate. I cool the water for 60 to 70 seconds before pouring it over the mixed tea and mate. I'm not a purist, but I get something I like and can drink on a consistent basis. It makes a good amount of liquor and it is mild to the palate and gives a good dose of caffeine.

For tea, I use PG Tips Loose Tea.PG Tips Black Tea, Loose Tea, 8.8-Ounce Boxes (Pack of 6)

I have decided to write this review after reading about how disappointed some people are with this product. This is not a traditional South American mate (which is smoked). This tea is an unsmoked pure mate, which is actually healthier than smoked version and doesn't taste like the traditional mate. Just like with anything else, you have to get used to the taste. Well, it is bitter but that's how nature intended it! And I have to say, I feel the difference in my day when I drink it in the morning...nice, steady energy and positive mood. If you look up Yerba mate's nutritional values, it kind of clarifies why! It's like a multivitamin with more antioxidants than any other tea (even green tea) without the caffeine. I used to sweeten it with honey but have grown to appreciating it's own taste.
Enjoy it!

I ordered the three pack bundle on August 18, 2009 and loved it. It lasted me a long time and I drink mate almost everyday. Good taste, good sized leaves for the bombilla, organic, overall awesome stuff. However, when I ordered the 3-pack it cost me $18.28 exactly, good deal. The price now wavers around $50. What's the dealeo? I'm flabbergasted. I was looking forward to ordering again but now I'm totally going with a better price.

I've been drinking Yerba Mate for 7 years. I've gone from Rosamonte to Eco Teas, Guayaki, Nobleza Gaucha, you name it.

Honestly, I don't drink it for the "smokey notes" or "earthy tones". I drink it because its incredibly healthy (packed with vitamins and minerals, antioxidants, its an appetite suppressant, mood enhancer, and energy booster), and because it packs a perfect morning jolt.

I like Eco Teas because its truly fair trade and organic, and it is quality with little to no stems. I find it is a milder mate though.

I now use the Guayaki Gaucho Fuerte blend, which is strong and satisfying.

I actually use Yerba Mate for brewing my Kombucha. It makes a delightful Kombucha that also packs a punch. Highly recommended.

i give this a five stars, because it shipped verry quickly , unbelievable, and its verry tasty mate , better than guayaki , and it wont clog your bombilla if you use one with a gourd. It also came with 2 extra pounds, thats why it cost 24 plus shipping 32, verry worth it. Dont listen to the bad reviewers.
