The book is crammed with numbers but the 'pulling together' is done using economics terminology that I am not familiar with. I feel that I got a good overview of the relative economies, but I used it as a sleep-aid, just before falling to sleep. It is I am sure a good reference for future review, just not 'easy reading', and I am afraid that I still lack a clear basic understanding of how the economies were prepared for the war effort, other than just that - They prepared their economies for war. I may be asking for the impossible, a layperson's guide to wartime economics.
Information I have been looking for. Well worth the effort to read (I'm not an econ person, my degree is in physics) in order to better understand WW2. And some interesting odd facts I have not found elsewhere.
