In the past decade I've been on a search for a decent showerhead that doesn't break the bank.

I've tried many different showerheads in the $1 to $30 price range and they've all either sucked, fallen apart after a few uses or got clogged up by hard water deposits in a month or two. There are several nice ones in the $80 and above range that I've tried at hotels and such, but that's more than I had wanted to spend for a showerhead. And I really HATE the ones that extend overhead and act as rain, it tickles my skin, especially my face, in a most uncomfortable way! I had finally found a showerhead that I liked at a local 99 Cents Only store, it was multi-function (ie- massage, etc), but I only ever left it in my favorite spray position. But I lost it when I moved (though I'm sure I packed it!). I made do with the one that was at my new place (it was a nice $80 one), but it finally failed.

So in searching for a replacement I stumbled on this one. It's a basic design, lo-flo (though I couldn't give a rat's patutee about that) and more importantly - cheap! The photo uploaded to the product page showed what has to be the perfect flow of water and the rubber nozzle design means no hard water clogging. So I got one and installed it.

I'm in heaven! Why couldn't this have come out years ago?? It delivered on all the promises, both explicit and implicit. It's my new favorite showerhead and I'm buying a spare!

Dec 2, 2011 - quick update. I'm still in heaven!! The hard water here has clogged a few of the lower spouts but a quick brush of my finger cleared them right up, so I'm getting the full flow the head is capable of. And I wish I had gone to a flow controlled head earlier!

This was one of the only shower heads that showed the flow of water. The type I tend to like. I also prefer and respect nice things and usually shell out the coin for nicer more name brand items because, well frankly, I notice the difference. After scouring the internet for models between $30 and $40 I was disappointed with almost everything I found. Everything seemed unnecessarily complicated. I stumbled upon this and figured at least it can tie me over for a little while until I find what I'm looking for. Low and behold this was it. Simple, cheap and great. I personally removed the little black screen on the back. Not sure what the hell it does but that's gone and I get perfect flow. Truly glad I took a shot on this model. Expensive doesn't always mean better.

UPDATE June 21, 2015: I'm still using the same shower head that I reviewed about 3.5 years ago, and it's still working awesomely. I bought a second one as a spare, but I've never needed to install it. As I type this update, the name has changed (from something like "$5 shower head") and the price has increased to about $7, but I still absolutely recommend it at that price. This thing has been my favorite shower head EVER.

For $5, this is a great value - but better yet, it's a great shower head! IMO, this isn't a product that you'll receive and think, "Well, it's okay, but at least it was only $5." I'm very happy with the performance.

One thing that I've disliked about other low-flow shower heads is the dispersion pattern. Some that I've owned had a comfortable spray pattern, but they were in a cone shape so that there was no water in the center of the spray. This always made it inconvenient when I wanted to wash my hair, as I had to move to one side of the water cone to get wet. The others that I've owned have been the pressure-washer variety, which have a solid spray of water, but one that's been a bit unpleasant for me.

This shower head, though, has full water coverage (as you can guess from the picture of the nozzles), and there is no pressure-washer effect. It's a nice, gentle stream. My house has good water pressure, so this shower head provides plenty of water coverage.

I also like how, at least over the past two and a half months, I can see no build up of scale or clogging of the nozzles (which has happened on all of my other shower heads). The packaging recommends rubbing the nozzles to prevent build up, and I take about two seconds each morning while I'm showering to reach up and rub my thumb over them.

Having tried several low flow heads, I finally just decided all I really want is a shower head that provides enough water to shower with and be able to get rid of the soap. Is that so hard? Many heads offered "massage" and all that turned out to be was a concentrated stream of water. So, I just started looking for a straight shower head that had more than 1.5 GPM of flow.

I found this shower head and thought I would give it a try. Here is what I liked:

1. A straight forward shower with no adjustments that provides a decent amount of water and that feels good.

2. Enough water flow to rinse away shampoo and soap without feeling like you are waiting for Spring.

3. Easy to install, they even included Teflon tape to prevent leaks.

4. Easy to clean, just wipe you fingers across the shower head to get rid of any build-up.

5. VERY inexpensive!

6. Still only uses 2 GPM of water flow.

What I did not like:

Actually, there is not anything about this unit that I disliked. It is small, looks good, works as advertised, and inexpensive. What more can I say?

I would highly recommend this if you are looking for a straight forward low flow shower head.
