If you did buy the two single disc volumes (like me) the cartoons, "Sir Ed-A-Lot" "Who, What, Where Ed" and "Avast Ye Eds", from the first volume are also on the Season One set. "Fool on the Ed" repeats from the second volume.
Season one includes these episodes:
1. "Pop Goes the Ed" and "Over Your Ed"
2. The Ed-Touchables" and "Nagged to Ed"
3. Sir Ed-A-Lot" and "A Pinch to Grow an Ed"
4. "Dawn of the Eds" and "Vert-Ed-Go"
5. "Read All About Ed" and "Quick Shot Ed"
6. "An Ed Too Many" and "Ed-n-Seek"
7. "Look into My Eds" and "Tag Yer Ed"
8. "Fool on the Ed" and "A Boy and His Ed"
9. It's Way-Ed" and "Laugh Ed Laugh"
10. "A Glass of Warm Ed" and "Flea Bitten Ed"
11. "Who, What, Where, Ed!" and "Keeping Up with the Eds"
12. "Eds-Aggerate" and "Oath to an Ed"
13. "Button Yer Ed" and "Avast Ye Eds"
Anyway, this is a great collection. I'm attempting to find the rest.
The characters are what really make the show. The titular trio have quite the differing personalities. Meshing them together onscreen makes for a hilarious time. The facial expressions alone are enough to have you rolling around on the floor.
There's Ed, a lovable oaf who loves gravy. There's Edd (dubbed Double D) by his buddies, an OCD bookworm whose voice of reason is rarely acknowledged. And then there's Eddy, the crafty leader of the bunch with a big mouth and sass to match.
The animation is also brilliant. With their outlines constantly in motion, the characters give off a very "awake" vibe. Along with this are the show's sound effects. Ed, Edd, and Eddy is far from a calm, quiet cartoon. I would not dub the sound effects as "random", because they might signify that they're unneeded. Au contraire. The show just wouldn't have been the same. In one episode, the cul-de-sac is flat out destroyed (comically of course) with debris covering the lot. The camera pans over the area, and in the background all you hear is the cry of a baby doll. It's just the perfect cherry on top to an already amusing situation.
Speaking of situations, the plots can be very simple. This is where the true art of storytelling shines. Being able to take a simple situation and turn it into 15 minutes of solid laughter deserves applause. But I must say, the actions still riding second place to the dialogue which really keeps this show on your toes. Ed especially. He's impossible to predict.
To those who have not had the opportunity to watch this animated series yet, do yourself a big BIG BIG BIG favor. Watch it.
