For some reason this sequel didn't catch and hold my attention to the same extent as the first novels. It seemed almost to be a "formatted" novel - hero returns home to find old enemy threatening his loved ones, finds a new love interest, rallies the troops, etc. Even the villian's foiled plans for the hero were kind of formatted for me.

I gave it five stars because it is a fun, quick read with solid characters and some interesting information. If you like end-of-the-world adventure stories, you will enjoy this.

I learned my lesson from Adrian's War and rationed this book out over a few days rather than devouring it in one sitting. This third book in Lloyd Tackitt's series about life after the lights go out is written in the sparse but informative style distinctive to the author, and he manages to pack a lot of plot and description into a few pages as we finally find out the trouble requiring Adrian to return home from Colorado. I am not going to give spoilers but I will say it is trouble Adrian has experience handling. The action is fast and realistic and again the author manages to add his own twists and turns into a fight that seems to pit archtypes of good versus evil into conflict. Mr. Tackitt also introduces a few new characters in this book that I hope remain around for future books.

The author is already working on Book Four and now all I have to do it wait for it to come out. Again.

What a saga ! Eden's Hammer is a perfect follow up in this series. Picks up right where the previous one left off but it could be a stand alone book. This author has done his research . I have rarely reread books in my 71 years of a book a day reading habit but aside from 1 other book I will definately reread these 3 and wait eagerly for more.

Well I haven't finished the third book (Eden's Hammer) yet, but I am at the 50% point and so far I'm disappointed...again. It's taking me forever to get it read because I'm just not that interested in it. I continue to compare the sequel books in this series to the first (A Distant Eden). I am still impressed with the first book and highly recommend it. "Eden's Hammer" is definitely better than the second book (Adrian's War), but not nearly as good as the first. At this point I'm continuing to read just so I can have the satisfaction of finishing. I will update this review once I actually finish the book, but I do not plan to read "Eden's Warriors" which is the fourth in the series. UPDATE: I just finished the book (almost 2 months after I purchased it) and, long story short, I'm still disappointed. I do not recommend it. In fact, I'm lowering my overall rating from 3 stars to 2 stars. Read the first (A Distant Eden) in the series and stop; lest you waste several months of your life.

I received the book in the Friday mail. Read it over the weekend. A very good book - again great storyline - and the characters really come to life. There are always bad guy in this new world and is Adrian capable of dealing with all of them. Great detail! Is this the start of Adrian's next love - only time will tell. A must read! Again, enjoy and learn.

I ABSOLUTELY love this 5 book series. I feel very connected to Adrian and his family and friends. I feel I know them and the author really personalized these people that you feel all the emotions they feel. Books 1 & 2 were a 5 star read, all the way. However, this book entirely was about preparing for a battle with a really bad dude. It was sorta boring and mundane. Adrian is off again on another adventure, leaving his village, family and another true love. I am looking forward to book 4 which I bought along with book 5....

I've read all of Tackett's books and while their now enjoyable with a few surprised they've become predictable. But if you read them for survival knowledge and tactics they are still valuable...Not always applicable but still good stuff....

Continuing story of Adrian and his fight against evil. If you have read the first two stories and liked them, this one won't be a disappointment . Many of these type of stories have the good guys in a perfect world which I think makes the story to predictable. Not so with this series. I just hope the author is cranking out another of the series because I am quickly heading that direction.
