Freya Barker has yet again left me speechless. There's a special kind of magic in each and every one of her books, yet it's always slightly different and unique to the characters in each story.

This story was the perfect blend of romance and murder mystery. Edgy, complex, and simply delicious.

He is a biker used to living on the wrong side of the law doing what he wants when he wants to do it. Life's twists and turns pushed him too close to the edge until he found himself waking up at rock bottom looking for a little help and a whole lotta redemption.
She is the first female cop in a long line of law enforcement officers, and she has had to fight to prove herself in their man's world time and time again. She is held to a higher standard by her own father and brothers who I came to have a very serious dislike for. The sights and horrors of the job take a toll until one unexpected encounter turns into the straw that breaks the proverbial camel's back so to speak. When her own family threatens to use her mistakes against her to discredit her for the sake of "protecting the family name", a change of location becomes necessary.
Like recognizes like, and it's not long until they realize their differences aren't that important. Without the crutch of past vices to fall back on, they need to lean on each other particularly when life starts to throw more obstacles at them. Walking the fine line between support and dependence leads to some bumpy moments along the way, but I have to say I absolutely loved these two characters and their journey. They are flawed but real and relatable at the same time, and they definitely had chemistry from the start. Edge of Darkness incorporates a storyline unique to Lissie while expanding upon a plot from prior books in the series, but you can absolutely read this book as a standalone. If you have not met the Arrow's Edge and Durango law enforcement families yet, what are you waiting for? Like any family, they are not perfect and life gets messy at times, but they will make you laugh, cry, swoon and fan yourself as you get to know them all so go get your 1-click on!

Lissie's debut into Barker's world was not without its own issues. As much as Yuma has been an under achiever, Lissie is his polar opposite as a female in a male dominated field with a determination to prove she is as good or better than her male counterparts. Sparks fly between the two of them as they find their biggest secret are also their biggest commonality. When a criminal element targets Lissie, Yuma has his chance to shine as he shows what he's really made from to save the woman he loves.
Barker gives us insight into Yuma's darkness and what has made him tick in his past life, but also reminds us that our past doesn't always define us.
The suspense will hold you but it's the unfolding 'perfectly imperfect' love story between Yuma and Lissie that will kept you turning the pages. Freya Barker is a seasoned pro at suspenseful romance and her Arrow's Edge Series has been a treat to read and review. I am an avid fan and if you like a well written suspenseful romance, I highly recommend you jump into Arrow's Edge. So far it's been a spellbinding ride!
Lissie and Yuma were just perfect together.
I loved taking this journey with them. I loved being inside Yuma's head and his heart. I love when characters are flawed, as most of us are, and find a way to muster up their inner strength and face their demons within.
Lissie was a complex character in her own right and together these two had a beautiful journey together.
This book had everything you would expect from Freya Barker. You don't need to have read Edge of Reason in order to follow this story but I do highly recommend it.
This is Yuma and Lissie's story so be prepared to go through the darkness of their lives and find the rainbow at the end for their HEA. I would highly suggest reading the first book though because it picks right up after Trunk and Tahlula's story ends with the rival Moab Reds MC as well as the ANL is still part of the story. I've had family members who were alcoholic so I can relate to the recovery process that it takes to get where Yuma and Lissie and how hard it is to stay sober. But I really love Lisa, Kiara and Ezrah so I look forward in reading their story next.
Lissie Bucco is the new detective in Durango who is jumping in feet first into the Moab Red's, ANL helping to figure out who is helping them take the children and find whose is financing the group. But when bodies start showing up at a construction site she'll soon find out that Arrow's Edge will be involved also. But there's a connection to her childhood friend Dani also that has brought her to Durango. But someone will soon be out to kill her and Yuma will do what ever it takes to keep Lissie safe.
Yuma is the only Edge born into the club and as the son of the founders Nosh and Momma but he's also in recovering alcoholic so he knows how Lissie struggles. But when he takes over as manager of the club's Riverside apartments he'll soon realize that keeping her safe will be a priority. Can they both leave their past behind to find a future with each other? There will be sadness within the club as well as a new beginning for several members I can't wait to read the next book.

Gods did I love his character.... so much so that I didn’t want his and Lissie’s book to end!
Damn, I need to backtrack.... We’ve met Lissie before and she came across as a bit of a rule following, tough nut to crack, but unbeknownst to us, that tough exterior hides a broken and lost soul. Lissie has family who consider that she isn’t gonna measure up to their expectations (we all know some like that I’m sure!) so she’s moved to Durango to live her life and work somewhere no-one knows her.
Yuma has been away, getting his head straight after everything that went down in the previous book and he’s back, trying to stay on track and get his life back together. He still manages to stuff things up a time or two but thankfully Lissie is a stronger person with a huge capacity for forgiveness and understanding.
There’s an definite off the bat attraction between this pair and we later find out that they have more in common than they realise to begin with.
As ever, Freya gave us older, maturer characters who, though they still had their own demons to fight, could see light and a future for themselves and gods, how I loved this pair together. Character development and growth was excellent and I hope we see more of their future as the series continues.
We catch up with characters past, find out what’s going on in their lives, meet potential new couples and other figures who I’m hoping we’ll learn more about.
Family is such a strong theme throughout Freya Barker’s books - be that blood or the family that is put together through choice or circumstance and that theme was continued in Edge of Darkness.
If you haven’t yet checked out the Arrow’s Edge MC series you’re so missing out and I’d definitely recommend you start at the beginning to fully appreciate all that happens in this second book.
Yuma and Lissie meet, and at first impression neither are taken with the other. But very soon, their paths keep crossing and a chance meeting gives them both a very common ground. Discovering each other’s darkness gives a platform for their attraction to bloom.
The story lines continues with the usual Freya Barker touch, great story line, intrigue, twists and turns, emotions when you least expect them.
A great instalment of what is rapidly becoming my very favourite series.
I have been looking forward to read Yuma and Lissie's book.
I read the Rock Point Series where we get a glimps at Yuma's ways in HWY 550 and we meet Lissie in Absolving Blue.
So good. So very good. I can't wait for the next installment.
