“I wanted to say thank you.”
“For everything: for making me shove your clothes into that bag instead of folding them and for turning the music down in the car so it wouldn’t wake me up and for singing about raisins. And for making me feel alive.”
“Well, everybody needs help feeling alive again every once in a while.”
“No, I didn’t say again, Andrew; for making me feel alive for the first time.”
What a wonderful story this was! I loved everything about this book, it was a beautiful story of following your heart, learning to live life to the fullest and self-discovery. It was hard not to fall in love with Andrew Parrish, from the second he flashed his dimpled grin to Camryn on that bus, I was done for. He was so full of life and his smile and personality were just so infectious. I loved how he challenged Camryn and forced her to really figure out what she wanted from life and taught her the importance of truly living in the now. He also taught her to never be ashamed of what she wants and to go after it with both hands! He was always so positive despite everything he had going on in his life, both what we knew and what we had yet to find out.
The friendship that developed between Camryn and Andrew was so perfectly written, it felt like I was right there along with them as they went along their road trip. And I loved the slow burn on the romance, you could cut the sexual tension with a knife and when it finally happened it was wonderful! For being a new-adult age book, the characters were both wise beyond their years but I loved how every now and then their youthfulness peeked through. Camryn took quite the journey in this book, and I don’t just mean the road trip, but she was so lost in the beginning with everything that had happened to her. You truly got to see her come alive over the course of this book, and I know Andrew nudged her along but all he did was help her uncover what she always had inside her but kept buried up until now.
All while this incredible story of friendship and love is playing out there’s always that little hint that Andrew is holding something back and let me tell you, it’s a punch in the gut when it’s finally revealed! But it gives you a whole new lens on everything that happened up to that point and you see a whole new perspective on his outlook on life and why he pushes Camryn so hard. You may need some tissues for the end of this one! But let me tell you, it’s all worth it because this was truly one of the most beautiful stories that I’ve had the pleasure of reading. It’s not one I will soon forget. Andrew and Camryn: you will always have a special place in my heart!
"I'm glad that Idaho is famous for potatoes."
I know what a weird quote to start off with right? But once you read this great book you will understand the meaning behind it, but I am just so glad that Idaho is famous for potatoes because this is what brought Camryn and Andrew together. Two complete strangers meet in a bus. Yeah thats right a bus! How crazy is that! But I am so happy that they did because it was complete fate that brought these two strangers together. I truly believe that they were one soul torn to become two different people. These two have the same beliefs and its as it they were always meant together. Once they get to know each other its as it they become one. Andrew helps Cam be more herself and try things that she wouldn't otherwise. Before meeting Andrew, Cam was just going through the motions in life. It was as if she was dead. Andrew brings her to life for the very first time with his personality and way of just being well Andrew. This book takes you not only on a journey to so many places in the book but also through a journey of emotions and love and sadness. This book had me so emotionally attached by with laughs, sadness, happiness, heartbreak, and it makes you look at life in new ways that you wouldn't think of before. J. A. Redmerski I thank you so much for writing this extraordinary book!
I devoured this book in a day.
I eagerly away the sequel, The Edge Of Always...
