Top Customer Reviews
Do not buy if you plan to use batteries. I had problems with all 3 of these scales. The batteries leaked acid inside the battery compartment. Edlund replaced all 3 scales, and then the replacements also started leaking acid. Tired of having to keep sending these back, I asked if I could trade them in for the non-submersible scales. They told me to contact the store where I bought these. The customer service person was very helpful in trying to resolve this issue, but in contacting Edlund, he was told "their tech team is unable to duplicate the issue so therefore they are claiming it could be result from user error". When I asked what I was doing to create this problem, I was not given any reason. I was asked how I cleaned it, what chemicals I used, if I submersed it, what I weighed on it, what kind of batteries I used, how often I used it, etc.. Nothing I told them explained why the batteries were leaking. Therefore, Edlund refused to let me exchange these scales.
The other issue I had with these scales, is that on the website, it says weighs in 1 gram increments. This is not correct. When I received the scales, the manual says it weighs in 2 gram increments. The problem is I repeatedly tried to weigh items under 10 grams and they would not register. If I weighed 2 items at a time weighing 12 grams total, it would register 10 or 12 grams, I would then remove 1 item and it would register 6 grams. If I tried to weigh 1 item at 6 grams, it would not register. This scale is not accurate with small weights.
I do not recommend this if you use batteries in your scale and weigh items less than 10 grams. The 3 scales I bought were a waste of money. If you use the power adapter and weigh heavier items, you may not have the problems I have had. I'll stick with my $25, 7001 DX My Weigh scale. I've had 4 of these for almost 10 years and they've replaced them for free, no questions asked, under the life time warranty.
