Good design, but poorly manufactured.
Purchased several drawers for about $28 each shipped. Out of the 5 drawers I installed, every one needed to be fixed or modified. Spot welds were broken right out of the box. I drilled and riveted broken spot welds on every drawer prior to installation. I attached pictures of the riveted drawers. This was a custom installation and I was already doing some metal fabrication, so It was not a big deal. If you just purchased them and wanted to install and use....well you would probably be quite mad. I am going to think twice about purchasing Edsal items in the future. Quality has really gone down hill over the last several years! I know they are CHEAP, but cheap should not mean unusable.

    Drawer came on time and packaging in good shape. There's very little protection in the box to keep it from getting damaged so I can see why other reviewers received dented drawers. This drawer met my expectations perfectly. I wasn't expecting the quality to be comparable to one sold for a hundred bucks. It's thin steel (22ga is what my gauge reads) but will work well for light duty use. It should be noted the face of the drawer is only folded upwards and not attached to the sides of the drawer in any other way. If you're in the habit of yanking drawers open or slamming them shut, the face is likely to become deformed quickly. A couple "L" brackets linking the face to the sides (or some quick tack welds) solves this issue. Overall I'm satisfied and would purchase again.

    Even though I read the reviews posted here, I decided to see for myself. One of 2 drawers I ordered were dented. It is not enough to make them unusable but very apparent that someone "Edsal" doesn't care much about getting a good product out in tact.

    Just adding a note stating the dents/bends were easily straightened and the drawer seems to hold up medium use without a problem.

    26APR17 Update, these have been at my work since purchase and we jam them full of hardware. I've never had them fall out from the side and we have all learned not to pull them out too far or we purposely pull them all the way so we set them on top of the workbench to dig through them, They are very sturdy.

    Bought 4 of th se for my wife's business. Some inconsistent processes in their manufacturing. One of them I had to bend the overlapping sheet metal in the drawer so it would work properly. It didn't have shipping damage. Looking at the tooling marks on the parts it's just quality control. Works great now. Expect to have to possibly futz with your drawer but after that it's fOne.

    This is a fairly large metal drawer that I installed in a few minutes with an electric screwdriver. My desk didn't come with drawers so this added a lot of storage space. Nice for the price.

    1st, how to spot fake reviews on Amazon
    When most people call the item below average and point out the flaws, within a month, for a period of a month or two, all short worded 5 star reviews show up, then right back to the actual poor reviews.
    Behold the Edsal WD1218 ! if the WD1218 stands for "will drop 1,218" things on the floor, they named it correct. I've seen quite a few different add on drawers and this one is by far the worst. Forget about pulling it out too far and having it drop...that would be a feature, compared to what this little gem does! Drawer fully closed and you shift it to the left or right = DROP! open it without your "laser guided perfectly parallel drawer opener"
    DROP! close it...DROP
    If you want to get in there and mess around with the sheet metal, you can probably fix it, but mine have dead on 90 degree bends where they should be and it still needs more. There is easily 3/8" of extra play in these...were it not there, this would be a nice cheap 4 star drawer.
    Dear Edsal, Just stop making it, seriously, what's the point. If you insist on making these, then maybe you should also make bent nails and burnt out light bulbs. Do you even look at the stuff you make?
    It's worth mentioning that I did not expect more than a simple sheet metal drawer, metal on metal slide, no problem. the box it came in is more useful.

    I went looking for a bench drawer that wouldn't fall apart and wasn't breaking the bank.
    Got it all here. Full steel construction and easy mounting means with a few screws you're able to store anything and everything.
    Added feature is the anti-tipout lip. Don't want it don't install it. I did. Makes all the difference when everything is up front.

    Big and strong, but no rollers or anything to avoid metal against metal scraping as drawer is opened and closed. One of three showed up bent beyond usefulness. The unit feels really crude and primitive, like you might expect in a faraway remote desert wrecker yard.
