These books are a journey for this couple. There is a 13 yr age difference between the heroine and the hero. It is at times a heavy read with all the teen angst and hormones(him) and the impatience and age (her). I'm not going to get into the story description as that is written above.. The story is actually pretty moving, detailed and to be truthful, aggravating at times. It is also beautiful in its intensity and feeling. There is a lot crap he has to go through with life working against not only him but the relationship between this couple. Yes, she was married(not saying wrong or right), but that relationship had been over for awhile. In the second book, Sebastian is a Marine and Caro is a journalist and they run in to each again other when she is going to be embedded in his unit. At first, he's an ass because he feels she walked away from him 10 years ago. But it does eventually get sorted out. There are issues of him being severely wounded in Afghanistan, PTSD from the injury and his thinking he's not good enough for her anymore because of the injuries. There are 2 epilogues at the end of the book. They do get their HEA. I think the one thing about these stories is that their feelings for each other never wavered.** There is no cheating per se. There is graphic sex, graphic language, 1st person, older woman/ younger male.
I've had this book sitting on my Kindle shelf for awhile now but always out of reading it. I was dumb. These two books are beautiful. Spanning over a decade, Sebastian & Caroline's story is something you can't help but be immersed in.
The first book was my favorite. You get to see progression of their affair and can't help but be caught up in it with them. You definitely feel their stress of keeping their romance hidden but also feel the chemistry between them that can't be ignored. The ending was appropriate but still stung. I do wish the author wrote another book 2 giving us alternate ending. One which the characters had made different choices after the ending.
I couldn't help but feel a bit melancholy reading book two. So many years had passed and it was a bit painful to read. The 2nd book is well fleshed out though and doesn't have unnecessary drama for drama's sake, which can happen in sequels. Also I enjoyed the thoroughly written ending. After all that I felt like I deserved to know what happened next.
Totes recommend but get ready for serious love story and one that requires reading both books to be satisfied.

At first I was weary, The Education of Sebastian features some taboo content, the main part being what I usually avoid, but after complaining to said naggy friend, I continued and I'm glad I did.
It was beautiful. There's no other word to describe it. what Caro and Seb had for each other was beautiful. Until it became ugly... and I cried ugly tears. Big, fat, ugly tears.
The Education of Caroline takes place 10 years after The Education of Sebastian. Seb's all grown up and hunky, he's a bit of an a** too. I actually found myself hating him. He did of course manage to redeem himself.
My kindle copy had loads of bonus content in it, extra scenes and chapters and scenes from Seb's PoV. I have the paperback copy too of course. Books as good as this? Why only have one copy?!
I'm so pleased this was made into one book, from the original two books it was, because I think I'd have lost my mind reading the first book if the second wasn't sat there waiting for me! The second book takes a totally different turn, and yet again considering the emotional subject matter, I think the author has written it (and researched it) so well.
I really enjoyed the extra epilogues that came with this edition, and I think I may have felt a bit short changed by the original, very short epilogue, as it seemed to just end their story too soon. But because of the two extra epilogues this wasn't the case.
The only criticism I'd have is that this felt like a really long book, and it think (particularly in the first book) there were a few chapters that felt a bit like a day to day tale, and I found myself rushing through a bit, just waiting for the stuff to hit the fan, as it seemed inevitable!!
I'd definitely read other books by this author!
I could re-read 100 times and still want to read over and over. There is something about the love and loss of Caroline and Sebastian that will stay with me forever.
Jane's writing is in a league of its own. I was dragged in so quick and spat out just as quick (in a good way)
I've yet to read another book that has effected me so much, to be able to feel the ache in my chest for the characters.
I already own the separate pbs but had to buy this new updated combined edition. I was not disappointed.
THIS IS A MUST READ!
Seb and Caroline's story will have you going through so many emotions, from madness to crying. Their story is so romantic, showing you how love can conquer so much.
Jane Harvey-Berrick not only pulls you into the book she keeps you there till the every end, the way she writes the story is amazing.
5 stars does not seem right for this really great book. Well done Jane
I don't think so. I would happily multiply that many times over. God I love Sebastian Hunter. What a man...incredible book. People read it please.
I fell in love with the characters so easily. (Well not all but you'll see who)
The details were amazing, i've never read a military story before but this one truly touched my heart!
The struggles described were touching & informative.
I'm hopeless at reviews for fear of spoilers but i hope you get the jist & take this journey for yourself
I never reviewed the 2 books when l read them a year ago but felt like I had to now as it was even better this time round.
Great book, absolute great couple! Definite must read.
